摘要: An adhesive composition comprising an epoxy compound and a compound comprising at least one aminimide functional group is disclosed. The compound comprising the at least one aminimide functional group is present in an amount from 2-8% by weight based on total weight of the adhesive composition and reacts with the epoxy compound upon activation by an external energy source. The adhesive composition also may comprise an amidine salt.

摘要: A film-forming thermoset coating composition includes: (a) an aqueous medium; and Option 1 and/or Option 2 as follows: Option 1: (b1) polyurethane-acrylate core-shell particles including a polymeric acrylic core at least partially encapsulated by a polymeric shell including urethane linkages, where the polymeric shell includes an acid functional group and two or more hydrazide functional groups, where the polymeric shell is covalently bonded to at least a portion of the polymeric core; and (c1) (i) formaldehyde; (ii) polyformaldehyde; and/or (iii) a compound that generates formaldehyde; Option 2: (b2) polyurethane-acrylate core-shell particles including a polymeric acrylic core at least partially encapsulated by a polymeric shell including urethane linkages, where the polymeric shell includes an acid functional group and two or more N-methylolated hydrazide functional groups, where the polymeric shell is covalently bonded to at least a portion of the polymeric core.

摘要: A stain resistant coating composition includes: urethane acrylate core-shell particles including (1) a polymeric acrylic core; and (2) a polymeric shell including a urethane linkage. The polymeric shell is formed from a reaction mixture including an isocyanate and a polyol. The polyol is substantially free of a six or more consecutive methylene group chain and/or the polyol is formed from monomers comprising a monomer content including at least 10 wt % substituted polyol and/or substituted polyacid and/or at least 25 wt % polyol or polyacid containing cyclic content, based on the total weight of the monomers forming the polyol.

摘要: A hydroxy functional alkyl polyurea is disclosed having the formula presented in claim 1, wherein R comprises an isocyanurate moiety, biuret moiety, allophonate moiety, glycoluril moiety, benzoguanamine moiety, polyetheramine moiety, and/or polymeric moiety different from a polyetheramine and having an Mn of 500 or greater; wherein each RI is independently a hydrogen, alkyl having at least 1 carbon, or a hydroxy functional alkyl having 2 or more carbons and at least one R1 is a hydroxy functional alkyl having 2 or more carbons; and n is 2-6. Further disclosed is a coating comprising: a film-forming resin; and a hydroxy functional alkyl polyurea crosslinker having the formula presented in claim 4, wherein R2 is a substituted or unsubstituted C1 to C36 alkyl group, an aromatic group, an isocyanurate moiety, biuret moiety, allophonate moiety, glycoluril moiety, benzoguanamine moiety, polyetheramine moiety, and/or polymeric moiety different from a polyetheramine having an Mn of 500 or greater, wherein each R1 is independently a hydrogen, an alkyl having at least 1 carbon, or a hydroxy functional alkyl having 2 or more carbons and at least one R1 is a hydroxy functional alkyl having 2 or more carbons; and n is 2-6, and when R2 is a substituted or unsubstituted C1 to C36 alkyl group the film-forming resin comprises COOH functionality that reacts with the polyurea to form an ester linkage.
Other hydroxy functional alkyl polyurea compounds, polymers made with the same, and compositions comprising the same are also disclosed as are substrates coated at least in part with or formed with any of the compositions described herein.-

摘要: A coating composition includes: (a) an acid functional polyol polymer having an acid value of greater than 9 mg KOH/g and less than 60 mg KOH/g, and a hydroxyl value of from 100 to 300 mg KOH/g; (b) a non-aminoplast derived crosslinker reactive with the acid functional polyol polymer; and (c) a non-aqueous liquid medium. Further, an equivalent ratio of functional groups on the crosslinker reactive with hydroxyl functional groups to hydroxyl functional groups on the acid functional polyol polymer is within a range of from 0.5 to 1.5. The coating composition is substantially free of an external catalyst. The coating composition cures at a temperature of less than 80° C.

摘要: A coating composition includes: (a) a first acrylic polymer formed from a reaction mixture including: (i) an ethylenically unsaturated monomer including an acid group or an amine group; (ii) a reactive solvent reactive with the ethylenically unsaturated monomer (i); and (iii) a second monomer reactive with ethylenically unsaturated monomer (i); and (b) a second acrylic polymer different from the first acrylic polymer, where the second acrylic polymer (b) has a Mw of at least 100,000 Da. A method of preparing such a coating composition and coatings and coated substrates formed therefrom are also disclosed. Coatings formed from the disclosed coating composition may exhibit improved stain resistance.

摘要: The present invention is directed to curable film-forming compositions comprising a first film-forming polymer prepared from at least one hydrophobic monomer, a second film-forming polymer prepared from at least one hydrophobic monomer, and a curing agent. Upon application of the curable film-forming composition to a substrate to form a coating layer, the first film-forming polymer is distributed throughout the coating layer, and the concentration of the second film-forming polymer is greater at the surface of the coating layer than the concentration of the second film-forming polymer within the bulk of the coating layer. The invention is additionally drawn to substrates coated with the curable film-forming composition. The present invention is also drawn to methods of mitigating dirt build-up on a substrate, comprising applying to at least a portion of the substrate the curable film-forming composition described above and at least partially curing the curable film-forming composition.
