Abstract:
Methods and apparatus using decoder-side Intra mode derivation (DIMD) are disclosed. According to one method, two-mode DIMD is used, where two DIMD modes are developed. The DIMD predictors for the two DIMD modes are derived. A final DIMD predictor is derived by blending the two DIMD predictors. In a second method, the DIMD mode is combined with a normal Intra mode to derive a combined DIMND-Intra predictor. In a third method, the DIMD mode is combined with an Inter mode to derive a combined DIMD-Inter predictor. Various blending methods to combine the DIMD mode and another mode are also disclosed.

Method and apparatus of video coding using decoder derived motion information based on bilateral matching or template matching are disclosed. According to one method, merge index for merge candidate group comprising bilateral matching merge candidate and/or template matching merge candidate are signalled using different codewords. According to another method, the first-stage MV or the first-stage MV pair is used as an only initial MV or MV pair or used as a central MV of search window for second-stage search. According to yet another method, after the reference template for a first reference list is found, the current template is modified for template search in the other reference list. According to yet another method, the sub-PU search is disabled for the template search. According to yet another method, block difference calculation is based on reduced bit depth during MV search associated with the decoder-side MV derivation process.

Method and apparatus of using motion refinement with reduced bandwidth are disclosed. According to one method, a predictor refinement process is applied to generate motion refinement for the current block by searching among multiple motion vector candidates using reference data comprising the target motion-compensated reference block, where if a target motion vector candidate requires target reference data from the target motion-compensated reference block being outside the valid reference block, the target motion vector candidate is excluded from said searching the multiple motion vector candidates or a replacement motion vector candidate closer to a center of the corresponding block of the current block is used as a replacement for the target motion vector candidate. In another method, if a target motion vector candidate belongs to one or more target fractional-pixel locations, a reduced tap-length interpolation filter is applied to the target motion vector candidate.
Abstract:
Aspects of the disclosure provide a method for denoising a reconstructed picture in a video coding system. The method can include providing two or more candidate non-local denoising technologies, selecting a target non-local denoising technology from the two or more candidate non-local denoising technologies for a patch group, and denoising the patch group of the reconstructed picture with the target non-local denoising technology. Besides, two parallel processing methods are provided for forming patch groups with predictor-based searching algorithms.

A method of Intra prediction filtering to determine whether to turn on or off the Intra prediction filter based on interleaved Intra prediction mode sets implicitly is disclosed. In one embodiment, initial Intra prediction block is derived based on neighboring reconstructed pixels of the current block. If the Intra prediction filter is on for the current Intra prediction mode, the Intra prediction filter is applied to the initial Intra prediction block to form a filtered Intra prediction block and Intra prediction encoding or decoding is applied to the current block using the filtered Intra prediction block as a predictor for the current block. For example, Intra gradient filter can be applied for even modes of Intra prediction modes from v to (v+8) and/or from h and (h+8). Bi-directional Intra prediction filter can be applied to some or all other modes.

In one implementation, a method codes video pictures, in which each of the video pictures is partitioned into LCUs (largest coding units). The method operates by receiving a current LCU, partitioning the current LCU adaptively to result in multiple leaf CUs, determining whether a current leaf CU has at least one nonzero quantized transform coefficient according to both Prediction Mode (PredMode) and Coded Block Flag (CBF), and incorporating quantization parameter information for the current leaf CU in a video bitstream, if the current leaf CU has at least one nonzero quantized transform coefficient. If the current leaf CU has no nonzero quantized transform coefficient, the method excludes the quantization parameter information for the current leaf CU in the video bitstream.

A method and apparatus for processing of coded video using in-loop processing are disclosed. Input data to the in-loop processing is received and the input data corresponds to reconstructed or reconstructed-and-deblocked coding units of the picture. The input data is divided into multiple filter units and each filter unit includes one or more boundary-aligned reconstructed or reconstructed-and-deblocked coding units. A candidate filter is then selected from a candidate filter set for the in-loop processing. The candidate filter set comprises at least two candidate filters the said in-loop processing corresponding to adaptive loop filter (ALF), adaptive offset (AO), or adaptive clipping (AC). The in-loop processing is then applied to one of the filter units to generate a processed filter unit by using the candidate filter selected to all boundary-aligned reconstructed or reconstructed-and-deblocked coding units in said one of the filter units.

A method and apparatus for loop processing of reconstructed video in an encoder system are disclosed. The loop processing comprises an in-loop filter and one or more adaptive filters. The filter parameters for the adaptive filter are derived from the pre-in-loop video data so that the adaptive filter processing can be applied to the in-loop processed video data without the need of waiting for completion of the in-loop filter processing for a picture or an image unit. In another embodiment, two adaptive filters derive their respective adaptive filter parameters based on the same pre-in-loop video data. In yet another embodiment, a moving window is used for image-unit-based coding system incorporating in-loop filter and one or more adaptive filters. The in-loop filter and the adaptive filter are applied to a moving window of pre-in-loop video data comprising one or more sub-regions from corresponding one or more image units.

A method for video decoding includes receiving a video frame reconstructed based on data received from a bitstream. The method further includes extracting, from the bitstream, a first syntax element indicating whether a spatial partition for partitioning the video frame is active. The method also includes, responsive to the first syntax element indicating that the spatial partition for partitioning the video frame is active, determining a configuration of the spatial partition for partitioning the video frame, determining a plurality of parameter sets of a neural network, and applying the neural network to the video frame. The video frame is spatially divided based on the determined configuration of the spatial partition for partitioning the video frame into a plurality of portions, and the neural network is applied to the plurality of portions in accordance with the determined plurality of parameter sets.

A method for adjusting application settings is provided. The method includes using an application setting module to receive at least one performance target from an application running on an electronic device. The method further includes using the application setting module to record at least one performance indicator of the application while the application is running, wherein the performance indicator corresponds to the performance target. The method further includes using the application setting module to estimate the estimated time that the temperature of the electronic device sustains less than the defense temperature. The method further includes using the application setting module to determine the score according to the performance indicator and the estimated time, wherein the score indicates to the application that it should raise, lower, or keep a current setting.
