Abstract: One variation of a method includes: rendering a home screen of an ad stream viewed on a display of a streaming device accessed by a user, the home screen including an image player located in a first subregion of the home screen and a set of icons selectable by the user, each icon corresponding to a video advertisement loaded within the image player; in response to detecting a first user input proximal a first icon, reconfiguring the image player to a second subregion of the home screen and triggering playback of a first video advertisement within the image player; and, during playback of the first video advertisement, in response to receiving a second user input proximal the first icon, reconfiguring the image player to a third subregion of the home screen, activating an audio stream corresponding to the first video advertisement, and continuing playback of the first video advertisement.

Abstract: A method is provided for streaming transcoded HLS video from a video asset to allow a minimum startup delay time. A method includes pre-transcoding a first number of the HLS chunks. Then, once a request is received from a remote HLS client for the HLS video asset, transmitting a number of the pre-transcoded chunks to the remote HLS player. The pre-transcoded chunks are transmitted during a startup period until real-time transcoded chunks can be received and processed by the remote HLS player at a time position to allow seamless transition from the pre-transcoded chunks.

Abstract: A method, system and product for compressing videos. The method comprising: obtaining a video that comprises a sequence of video frames, wherein the sequence of video frames comprises at least a first frame and a second frame, wherein the first frame is ordered before the second frame in the sequence of video frames; determining to preserve the first frame in its entirety; and in response to a determination to utilize a partial frame instead of the second frame: cropping the second frame to determine a cropped frame, wherein the cropped frame is smaller in at least one dimension than the second frame, wherein said cropping is based on an anchor location; whereby an alternative video can be constructed using the first frame and the cropped frame, wherein the alternative video does not include a remainder portion of the second frame in an explicit manner.

In the affirmative, a determination whether displaying the progress bar would spoil the media asset is made. In response to determining that displaying the progress bar would spoil the media asset, the progress bar is refrained from generating display.

Abstract: Methods and systems for providing a video stream along with a slow motion video showing a particular event depicted in the video stream are described herein. The method includes generating a first video stream and generating a second video stream, which is a slow motion video stream, from the first video stream by modifying a playback speed of the first video stream. The method includes monitoring content of the first video stream to identify an event trigger of a predefined set of event triggers. Each event trigger indicates a presence in the first video stream of an event that is to be generated for display using the second video stream. The method includes determining, based on the identifying of the event trigger, to transmit the second video stream along with the first video stream, and simultaneously transmitting both the first video stream and the second video stream.

Abstract: An artificial intelligence (AI) system for simulating functions such as recognition, determination, and so forth of a human brain by using a mechanical learning algorithm such as deep learning, or the like, and an application thereof are provided. A method of filtering video by a device is provided. The method includes selecting at least one previous frame preceding a current frame being played from among a plurality of frames included in the video, generating metadata regarding the selected at least one previous frame, predicting harmfulness of at least one next frame to be displayed on the device after playback of the current frame, based on the generated metadata, and filtering the next frame based on the predicted harmfulness.
