Abstract:
An exercise mat can include a knit spacer fabric having a first ground fabric spaced apart from a second ground fabric in an uncompressed state. The exercise mat can be configured to be rolled up and compressed for storage and to expand into a planar spaced apart arrangement between the first and second ground fabrics for use. The knit spacer fabric can be formed from a plurality of knit polymeric threads and can include a first wall fabric extending between the first ground fabric and the second ground fabric. The first wall fabric can support the first ground fabric and the second ground fabric in a compressible spaced-apart configuration. The spacer fabric can include a traction-enhancing coating at an outer surface.
Abstract:
A tape barrier, warning, or display composed of flexible material having generally parallel edges and substantially greater length than width with cuts made into the tape at intervals along the tape defining pennants and connecting bands. The tape may be any color or even transparent, and messages or images may be applied thereon. The tape is deployed by placing longitudinal tension or pulling on a segment. Upon deployment, the tape lengthens and the pennants drop. The appearance is of a series of spaced apart hanging pennants held together by connecting tape material.
Abstract:
A ribbon wheel (27) to which lengths of ribbon (22) from spools (65) are wound for ultimate severance into ribbon strands (29). Ribbon material (23) advances from posted spools (65) in compartment (61) of frame (36) of apparatus (20) to their collection at and through slot (67) in top panel (34) of frame (36) for apparatus (20). A post (66) in compartment (61) guides ribbon material (23) to slot (67). The collected ribbon lengths (22) are wound a number of revolutions upon the wheel's peripheral surface (25) formed between the wheel's discs (38, 39) by means of shaft (48) and handle (51) that rotates wheel (27). Recesses (31) in wheel (27) provide points at which the ribbon lengths (22) are severed after ties (85) tie them together at other particular recesses (31) to form multiple ribbon strands (29). A mechanism (75/74) is provided on frame (36) for curling ribbon lengths (22) prior to their introduction to wheel (27). A clip (78) is mounted on frame (36) to prevent slippage of ribbon lengths (22), integral to ribbon material (23), back through slot (67) after severance of them on wheel (27). A revolution counter (54) on frame (36) cooperates with its tripper (55) on wheel (27) to record the number of revolutions undertaken by wheel (27) from which calculation of the number of ribbon strands (29) may be made.
Abstract:
A decorative ribbon is shown including a controllable adhesive on the backside thereof for select placement on package material and select removal, if necessary, therefrom without damage to the package. The decorative ribbon according to the present invention may include incomplete die cutting to provide portions of the ribbon which may be selectively moved out of the plane of the ribbon, but remain attached to the ribbon body. Furthermore, the incomplete die cuts may define ribbon portions which may be torn from the ribbon body whereby, by use of the controllable adhesive on the backside thereof, the ribbon elements may be selectively placed about a gift package according to user preference. A stretch ribbon includes alternating transverse die cuts directed inward from outside edges of the ribbon whereby upon application of longitudinal forces the ribbon stretches beyond its natural length and assumes a three dimensional character.
Abstract:
A method for making a footwear upper assembly, including knitting a tube to form first and second sock portions integrally joined at an intermediate portion; defining a first sock void and a first opening in the first sock portion; turning the second sock portion inside out, folding relative to the intermediate portion, and moving the second sock portion into the first sock void; inserting a footbed through the first opening into a footbed void formed between first and second lower panels of respective first and second sock portions; and closing the first opening to trap the footbed between the first and second lower panels. Alternatively, the method includes placing the knit tube on a last, placing a footbed adjacent the first lower panel, turning the second sock portion right-side out and moving it around an exterior of the first sock portion, and trapping the footbed within the footbed void.
Abstract:
A method for producing knitwear formed at least partially as single jersey knitwear with a perforated structure and a functional textile based on the knitwear, provide very fine knitting stitches and perforated structures with large holes meeting demands of sportswear and underwear. The knitwear is produced on a double jersey knitting machine with first and second oppositely disposed needle carriers and a machine gauge of >24 needles/inch. The first needle carrier has a needle number/inch of latch-type needles corresponding to the machine gauge and the second needle carrier has transfer needles. The needle number/inch of the transfer needles is at most half that of the latch-type needles of the first needle carrier. The transfer needles form loop accumulations with at least one tuck loop per hole subsequently transferred with or without at least one knitting stitch from the transfer needles onto the latch-type needles.

Abstract:
A fabric for thermal management including the cooling of an object, such as a person's skin. The fabric is formed of a plurality of materials including at least one liquid transport enhancing material and at least one evaporative transport impeding material. When the fabric is in use, the transport enhancing material is located near an object to be cooled, while the evaporation impeding material is spaced away from the object. The fabric is peached so that there is an entanglement of the two materials. Peaching is performed on both sides of the fabric, but initially on the side with the transport enhancing material such that a portion of the evaporation impeding material is pulled into the fabric core. A method of making the fabric is also described.
