Abstract:
The present invention relates to a prosthetic fabric comprising an arrangement of yarns defining at least two faces for said fabric, said fabric comprising, on at least one of its faces, one or more barbs that protrude outwards relative to said face, characterized in that said barbs are covered with a coating made of a water-soluble biocompatible material. The invention also relates to a process for obtaining such a fabric and to prostheses obtained from such a fabric.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a surgical textile (1) comprising an arrangement of biocompatible yarns defining a first face (2) and a second face (3) of the textile, the second face opposite the first face, the textile being provided at least on an area of a surface of one of its faces with a plurality of barbs (4) showing substantially a first length L1, measured perpendicularly to that surface, characterised in that said area of said surface is further provided with a plurality of loops (5), said loops showing substantially a second length L2, measured perpendicularly to that surface, where L2 is greater than L1. The invention further relates to a process for manufacturing such a textile.
Abstract:
A composite loop face fabric which incorporates a multi-bar stitch-bonded construction and related fastening system. A yarn system forms an arrangement of surface loops extending in stitched relation through a composite nonwoven stitching substrate incorporating at least one layer of a cellulose tissue disposed in surface covering relation to at least one layer of a nonwoven support material of polymeric fiber. Multiple layers of cellulose tissue and nonwoven support material may be used if desired.
Abstract:
A device for performing surgery on a patient includes: a mesh patch comprising a top surface and a bottom surface; and a removable cover positioned adjacent to and in facing engagement with the bottom surface of the mesh patch. The bottom surface has a plurality of hooks positioned thereon. The cover is removed from the mesh patch as the mesh patch is positioned at a surgical site such that the hooks on the bottom of the mesh patch grip surrounding tissue of a patient and secure the mesh patch to surrounding tissue of the surgical site. A method for performing a surgery using such a device is also provided.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a prosthesis (10) intended to be implanted at an implantation site, comprising information means designed to guide the surgeon in order to implant the prosthesis in a specified position, said prosthesis comprising at least one fabric called the base fabric (2) and having at least one apertured surface (3), said information means comprising at least one patch (4, 5) having a color different from that of the base fabric, said patch being provided with at least one barb (6) projecting from one of its surfaces and grippingly fastening said patch to said apertured surface of said base fabric at a specific place on said surface, the presence of said patch at said specific place bearing information designed to facilitate implantation of the prosthesis in said specified position. The invention also relates to a kit comprising a fabric and a patch.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a fabric which can attach to itself by use of hand pressure, and methods for its manufacture. The invention provides a fabric having at least part of its surface covered with small monofilament loops. The self-attaching fabric having at least part of its surface covered with small monofilament hooks which removably engage each other when the surface is pressed into contact with another similar surface to retain together the two portions of the fabric until they are separated by a peeling action.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to an openwork prosthetic knit (1) made from a single piece based on first yarns of biocompatible polymer materials that define a first face (2) and a second face that are opposite one another and on a second biocompatible yarn that generates barbs (3) that protrude outwards from at least said first face, characterized in that said first face comprises at least one zone in which it is provided with said barbs and at least one zone (5) in which it is free of such barbs. It also relates to a process for manufacturing such a knit (1) and to a prosthesis comprising such a knit (1).
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method for producing a knit, said method comprising the following steps:—a) knitting first yarns of biocompatible polymer materials, a second yarn, which is a monofilament yarn, and a third yarn, which is a monofilament yarn, which are made of the same biocompatible hot-melt material, the diameter of the second yarn being strictly greater than the diameter of the third yarn:—said second and third yarns generating loops protruding from one face of said knit,—b) thermosetting the knit obtained at a),—c) placing the face of the knit with loops flat on a heated cylinder, resulting in i) the complete melting and elimination of the loops formed from the third yarn, and ii) the partial melting of the loops formed from the second yarn, said partial melting causing the rupture of each loop and, therefore, the formation, for each loop, of two barbs protruding outwards from the face of said knit.
Abstract:
A method of forming a circular knit fabric includes feeding a multi-filament non-elastomeric yarn from a first spool into an aperture defined in a yarn carrier plate that guides the non-elastomeric yarn sequentially to a series of knitting needles spaced about a circular needle array; while feeding an elastomeric yarn from a second spool to the yarn carrier plate, such that a fabric is knit to have a ground comprising both the non-elastomeric yarn and the elastomeric yarn. The non-elastomeric yarn and the elastomeric yarn are fed together into the carrier plate aperture in an untwisted, unwrapped relation, such that the fabric ground is knit to have a technical face in which portions of the non-elastomeric yarn are exposed in some areas and portions of the elastomeric yarn are exposed in some areas.
Abstract:
A prosthetic knit for medical or surgical use which has a structure made of monofilament and/or multifilament yarn which is biocompatible and optionally partially bioabsorbable.According to the invention, this knit comprises a monofilament sheet forming, on one face of the knit, spiked naps which protrude perpendicularly with respect to said sheet, that is to say naps each having a substantially rectlinear body and, at the free end of this body, a head of greater width than that of this body.
