    Abstract: A sports performance sensor for an implement used in sports, such as a bat or baseball. The implement, e.g. the bat or baseball, is formed with an area inside that can include circuitry. The circuitry can measure rotation acceleration, and speed. The outer surface of this device has pressure sensing fabric, which senses location and pressure on the outer surface. This can form a pressure map of where the user's fingers are touching the outer surface. The information from the user's performance in using the device are transmitted to an external computer such as a phone which creates a pressure sensing map. This pressure sensing map can then be compared to data from either the same user at a different time or from other users. This can be specific to different actions, for example it can be specific to the user throwing a specific kind of pitch, or the user carrying out a specific operation such as swinging a bat to hit a specific kind of pitch.

    Abstract: A sports ball comprising a cover disposed about a bladder is provided. The cover comprises an outer substrate and defines an outer substrate surface and a feature surface. The outer substrate surface defines a plurality of plateau sections. The feature surface is radially spaced apart from the outer substrate surface and further defines a plurality of indentations and a plurality of protrusions. Each indentation has an indentation terminus disposed on the feature surface and radially spaced apart from the outer substrate surface by an indentation depth. The protrusions are positioned on the plateau sections, and each protrusion has a protrusion terminus disposed on the feature surface and radially spaced apart from the outer substrate surface by a protrusion height. At least one protrusion is positioned less than a predetermined distance of about 1.0 millimeters from at least one of the indentations, thereby acting as a wickerbill on the ball.

    Abstract: Golf balls having covers made of thermoplastic polyurethane compositions are provided. Multi-piece golf balls can be made. Polyurethane primer coatings and polyurethane top-coatings are applied to the thermoplastic polyurethane cover. Isocyanate-rich and polyol-rich polyurethane coatings can be applied. In one embodiment, multi-functional imine and amine compounds can be used to treat the golf ball. The resulting coating may contain polyurethanes, polyureas, and hybrids, copolymers, and blends thereof. The cover composition and surface coatings can further include catalysts, ultraviolet (UV)-light stabilizers, and other additives. Heat is used to cure the coatings. The coating methods have many benefits and the finished balls have good physical properties.
