    摘要: A starter for an engine is equipped with a planetary gear speed reducer, a restraining mechanism, and a shock absorber which is made up of a rotary disc, a stationary disc, a case, and a load applying mechanism. The load applying mechanism applies a load to the stationary and rotary discs to develop a given degree of friction therebetween. When an excessive torque acts on the rotary disc through the internal gear, the shock absorber induces the rotary disc to rotate against the given degree of friction to absorb the torque to eliminate a physical impact to be exerted on the planetary gear speed reducer. The restraining mechanism restrains the load applying mechanism from moving in a radius direction of the internal thread to avoid undesirable engagement of the load applying mechanism with the internal thread, thereby ensuring the stability in applying the load to the stationary and rotary discs.

    摘要: A starter for an engine is equipped with a planetary gear speed reducer, a restraining mechanism, and a shock absorber which is made up of a rotary disc, a stationary disc, a case, and a load applying mechanism. The housing has a tubular wall section through which the pinion shaft extends and to which the center case is coupled in the axial direction. The tubular wall section is formed with a through hole. The center case has a bearing holding section holding the bearing and a cylindrical projecting section projecting in the axial direction towards the housing at a position radially outwardly of the bearing holding section inside the tubular wall section. The outer periphery of the projecting section faces the through hole.

The solenoid actuator is configured to, when activated, shift the movable pinion member toward the ring gear to be engaged with the ring gear. The solenoid device includes a solenoid switch configure to, when activated, energize the motor. The solenoid actuator and the solenoid switch are integrated with each other to provide the solenoid device. A controller module is configured to individually control an activation of the solenoid actuator and an activation of the solenoid switch. The controller module is mounted on the solenoid device.

    摘要: An electromagnetic switch for a starter is provided. In the switch, a switch case has an open end formed and a molding cap has two terminals connected electrically to external leads and a fitting end. The fitting end is mutually fitted to the open end of the switch case. A pair of fixed contacts is disposed inside the molding cap, each fixed contact being integrally secured to each terminal. A movable contact is movably disposed to face the pair of fixed contacts. An excitation coil generates a magnetic force necessary for driving the movable contact. Further, the switch case includes a winding-up belt piece integrally formed to a circumference of the open end to extend outwardly in its axial direction. The molding cap includes a circumferential groove formed on an outer surface of the fitting end of the molding cap, the winding-up belt piece winding up the whole circumferential groove.

    摘要: In a starter, a pinion is fitted on a pinion shaft such that a rear end surface of the pinion is pressed against a thrust receiving wall provided on the pinion shaft, while a front end surface of the pinion is pressed backward by a detent ring. The detent ring has a tapered surface and fitted in a recess provided on a pinion shaft. A front rising wall defining the recess has a tapered wall so as to correspond to the tapered surface. Since resiliency of the detent ring constricting radially inward is applied to the tapered wall, a component force of the resiliency pressing the pinion axially backward is generated. Thus, the pinion is restricted from moving axially backward by pressing a rear end surface against a thrust receiving wall of the pinion shaft, while the front side surface of the pinion is pressed axially backward through the detent ring.

    摘要: In an electromagnetic switch of a starter, a bobbin has two terminal holders on a flange. Each of the terminal holders defines a slot on its end surface and a terminal is press-fitted in the slot in an axial direction of the bobbin. An end of an excitation coil wound around the bobbin is pulled out the bobbin and connected to the terminal. A molded cover provides a through hole and is mounted on the terminal so that the terminal passes through the through hole. A sealing member is press-fitted on the terminal to air-tightly seal the through hole. A rod cover fitted on a rod supporting a movable contact has slits on its cylindrical part in the axial direction. The slits are closed before a distal end of the cylindrical part.
