Abstract: A method and an apparatus for compressing the three-dimensional data of a point cloud are disclosed. The present invention comprises, identifying a plurality of points constituting a point cloud, and projecting the plurality of identified points onto a projection plane so as to generate a projection image, wherein the bit number of projection points corresponding to the plurality of points projected in the projection image is determined on the basis of the distance between a first point closest to the projection plane and a second point farthest therefrom, on a normal with respect to the projection plane, among the plurality of points and/or on the basis of the number of intermediate points located between the first point and the second point.

Abstract: Proposed in various embodiments of the present disclosure are a device and a method for image processing, whereby image conversion by dilation is carried out in a multimedia system. To this end, an electronic device for image processing may identify between a first unused area in a first picture and a second unused area in a second picture, the first unused area and the second unused area having the same time information. The electronic device may acquire fill values for replacing the first unused area and the second unused area, on the basis of a value acquired from the first unused area and a value acquired from the second unused area. The electronic device may acquire a first converted picture and a second converted picture by replacing the first unused area and the second unused area by using the acquired fill values.

The method includes receiving, from a server, a media presentation description (MPD) including content type information for three-dimensional (3D) media content and configuration type information for the 3D media content, accessing a segment of the 3D media content based on information included in the MPD, and receiving the 3D media content based on the segment. The content type information may indicate an identifier for the 3D media content, and the configuration type information may indicate whether quality is adjustable for each of content components of the 3D media content.

Abstract: A method for transmitting data for a three-dimensional image is provided. Abstract: A decoding device, an encoding device and a method for point cloud decoding is disclosed. The method includes decoding the compressed bitstream into a first set and second set of 2-D frames. The first set of 2-D frames include first set of regular patches representing geometry of a 3-D point cloud and the second set of 2-D frames include first set of regular patches representing texture of the 3-D point cloud. The method includes identifying in the first set of 2-D frames, a missed points patch representing geometry of points of the 3-D point cloud not included in the regular patches, and in the second set of 2-D frames a missed points patch that represents texture of the points of the 3-D point cloud not included in the regular patches. The method also includes generating, using the set of 2-D frames, the 3-D point cloud using the missed points patches.
