Abstract: In an endoscope including a rear grasping portion extending along a second longitudinal axis that is a direction flexed relative to a first longitudinal axis along which the operation portion body extends, a bend preventing portion covering a universal cable extending out from the proximal end side of the rear grasping portion is joined to the proximal end side of the rear grasping portion via a movable joint portion so that a direction of the bend preventing portion can be changed by the movable joint portion to a first direction oriented to the inner side in the flexion direction of the rear grasping portion relative to the operation portion body and a second direction oriented to the outer side in the flexion direction of the rear grasping portion relative to operation portion body.

Abstract: The endoscope of the present embodiment is so configured that the forceps port connected to the insertion section can be rotated by connecting, like “L”, the front section from which the insertion section extends and the rear housing section from which the cable extends, and the curving operation lever is placed at a middle position of the L-shaped connection. Thus, the front section serving as the first grasping section and the rear housing section serving as the second grasping section can be shifted to each other as a section to be grasped, and the positions of the curving operation lever and the forceps port and the positions of the fingers match irrespective of the grasping mode, with the result that the operation can be performed comfortably.

Abstract: An endoscope includes an insertion portion including a first conduit for delivering a fluid, and a second conduit for suctioning a fluid. A distal end opening of the second conduit may have an opening area larger than an opening area of a distal end opening of the first conduit, and in the second conduit, an inside diameter on a distal end side may be smaller than an inside diameter on a proximal end side. In a calculus collecting method, fluid can be delivered into the subject from the first conduit, and fluid can be suctioned into the second conduit. Intermittently, fluid delivery from the first conduit may be stopped so that fluid can be delivered through the second conduit.
