    摘要: A piercing nozzle (2) having a nozzle hole (2a) larger than the diameter of a converged laser beam (10) and smaller than the diameter of a hole (1a) of a cutting nozzle (1) is in use. Further, an underlay (3) having a hole (3a) at a position corresponding to the nozzle hole (2a) is placed under the piercing nozzle (2) through a clearance (5). Piercing is carried out by irradiating the laser beam (10) to a machining target (6) through nozzle holes (1a, 2a) and (3a) on condition that a laser oscillator is set to output high power. The diameter of a hole machined by the piercing is small, and less scattered dross is produced. The scattered dross is cooled down within the clearance (5) and is then dropped down to the underlay (3), so that the adhesion of the scattered dross to the machining target does not occur. Since a small hole is machined with the high power, the machining time for piercing is remarkably shortened.

    摘要: A laser beam machining system is provided whereby a distribution of flow velocity of an assist gas suited for high-speed cutting is obtained. A nozzle has a nozzle hole for emitting the laser beam and the assist gas therethrough. A helical groove is formed in the inner surface of the nozzle hole. The groove may be a V-shaped groove, that is, an internal thread-type groove. In the case of cutting a workpiece with the nozzle mounted to the laser beam machining system, the closer to the inner surface of the nozzle hole, the slower the flow velocity of the ejected assist gas becomes. Accordingly, the assist gas is ejected at high flow velocity only in the vicinity of the focal point of the laser beam, thus permitting high-speed cutting.

    摘要: A laser beam machine which makes it possible to effect piercing in a shortest time period and cutting with high accuracy. A program-reading device reads a machining program. A first distance changeover-directing device directs that a workpiece-to-converging point distance between a surface of a workpiece and a converging point of a laser beam is set to one value suitable for piercing when it detects a piercing program in the machining program. Further, a second distance changeover-directing device directs that the workpiece-to-converging point distance is set to one value suitable for cutting when it detects a cutting program in the machining program. A distance control device operates to control the workpiece-to-converging point distance in accordance with directions from the first and second distance changeover-directing devices. That is, the workpiece-to-converging point distance is set to the optimum value for piercing when piercing is carried out, while it is set to the optimum value for cutting when cutting is carried out, thereby completing piercing in a short time period, and effecting cutting with high accuracy.

An oxygen (O.sub.2) gas cylinder (4a) is provided in addition to an argon (Ar) gas cylinder (4b), for forming the mixed auxiliary gas, and the argon gas and the oxygen gas are mixed in a mixer (6) before being supplied to a machining head (7) and jetted onto a machining spot (9) through a nozzle (8). The oxygen oxidizes the zinc of the zinc-plated steel sheets (3a and 3b) to produce zinc oxide and zinc peroxide, to thereby prevent evaporation and minimize spatters, and thus permits a laser welding with a minimum generation of blowholes.

    摘要: A laser beam machine executes a cutting operation by irradiating a laser beam onto a workpiece. The cutting operation of nonferrous metals having a considerable thickness is executed effectively and stably. A piercing operation is executed at point A under machining condition A, forming an arc-shaped portion. Then, the machining condition A is changed to machining condition B to execute an enlargement processing, and the arc-shaped portion is extended as it is, forming an enlarged cutting groove. After the enlargement processing is completed at point B, the standoff (or distance from the tip end of a machining nozzle to the surface of the workpiece) is set to as short a distance as possible, and the machining condition is modified to machining condition C. Thus, a cutting operation is started according to machining condition C. Therefore, the cutting operation is executed in substantially the same state as that in which a cutting operation is started directly from the outer-side end of the workpiece. In addition, in the case where the cutting operation is executed, the assist gas pressure is set to a high value, and the standoff is set to a low value, so that dross scattering effect by the assist gas appears more remarkably. Thus, the cutting operation is executed effectively and stably.

    摘要: Surface-treated metallic workpieces such as zinc-plated steel plates are welded with high quality while they are being held in intimate contact with each other. An auxiliary gas including an oxygen gas is ejected from a space (7) around an electrode (1) through a nozzle (8) to a welding point (9) on overlapping surface-treated metallic workpieces such as zinc-plated steel plates (3a, 3b). When the zinc-plated steel plates (3a, 3b) are welded in the atmosphere of the auxiliary gas, the surface layers of zinc and oxygen react with each other, producing a solid oxide such as zinc oxide or zinc peroxide. Therefore, a gas such as a zinc vapor is prevented from being produced between the overlapping zinc-plated steel plates (3a, 3b). The welded joint is of high quality without blowholes which would otherwise blow away molten steel.

    摘要: A laser machining apparatus capable of removing spatters and slugs produced in piercing and rising supply pressure of blow gas sufficiently without hindering a jet of assist gas. A piercing assist jig can be turned and moved up and down by a rotary air cylinder and an extendable air cylinder which are attached to a machining head. When piercing is to be performed, the piercing assist jig, which is in a position where it does not interfere with the machining nozzle and the workpiece, is turned to make a center of a hole of the piercing assist jig coincide with a center of the machining nozzle. Then the machining head is moved down to a piercing position, and the piercing assist jig is pressed on a workpiece. Then, a laser beam is irradiated and assist gas is jetted, and also blow gas is jetted from a blow gas supply opening so that the blow gas flows with the assist gas therebetween. Spatters and slugs flying up in the process of piercing are removed by the blow gas without hindering the piercing.
