摘要: A method of operating a shape sensing apparatus comprises receiving shape data from a first shape sensor. The first shape sensor includes a first plurality of optical cores extending between a first section and a second section of an elongated optical fiber. The method further comprises receiving shape data from a second shape sensor. The second shape sensor includes a second plurality of optical cores extending between the first and second sections of the elongated optical fiber. The method further comprises determining a shape of the elongated optical fiber between the first and second sections by combining the shape data from the first and second shape sensors.

摘要: A method for operating a medical device includes measuring a configuration of a tube, receiving a desired configuration of the tube, determining an actuation input to bend the tube to the desired configuration, and transmitting the actuation input to at least one force transmission element that is actuatable to alter the tube between a flexible state and a stiffened state. Altering the tube from the flexible state to the stiffened state includes simultaneously applying first and second tension forces to first and second force transmission elements, respectively, to compress and shorten a length of the tube. The method further includes receiving a first command to place the tube in the flexible state, reducing longitudinal compression on the tube in response to the first command, receiving a second command to place the tube in the stiffened state, and longitudinally compressing the tube in response to the second command.

摘要: A medical robotic system includes a viewer for displaying an image of a work site, a gaze tracker for tracking a gaze point of a user on the viewer, and a processor. The processor is configured to: draw an area or volume defining shape, overlaid on the image of the work site, in a position determined by the gaze tracker; assign a fixed virtual constraint to the shape and constrain movement of a robotic tool according to the fixed virtual constraint; receive a user selected action command selecting an image of patient anatomy; and superimpose the selected image of the patient anatomy over the image of the work site within the shape. The selected image of the patient anatomy is registered to the image of the work site.

The medical instrument system also comprises an insertion stage slideably engaged with the instrument carriage along the linear axis. The insertion stage has a drive assembly comprising a drive belt and a drive motor configured to drive the drive belt. The base is fixedly coupled to the drive belt. The medical instrument system also comprises a connecting element having a distal end fixedly coupled to the drive belt and a proximal end fixed to the instrument carriage.

摘要: An imaging system and method includes a rolling shutter sensor that captures a plurality of images of a scene, a time-varying illumination source that illuminates the scene, and a processor that receives the plurality of images from the rolling shutter sensor and separates the plurality of images into a plurality of feeds. Each of the plurality of images is captured as a series of lines. The rolling shutter sensor and the time-varying illumination source are operated synchronously to cause a plurality of on-cadence lines of the rolling shutter sensor to receive more illumination from the time-varying illumination source than a plurality of off-cadence lines of the rolling shutter sensor. Each of the plurality of feeds has a different contribution of the time-varying illumination source to an overall illumination of the scene.
