    Abstract: An electrode assembly for a battery includes: a positive electrode plate including a positive electrode current collector plate, a positive electrode active material layer on a surface of the plate, at least one uncoated portion at which no positive electrode active material is applied, and at least one positive electrode tab electrically attached and coupled to the uncoated portion, and protruding upwardly from an upper portion of the electrode assembly; a negative electrode plate including a negative electrode current collector plate, a negative electrode active material layer on a surface of the plate, at least one uncoated portion in which no negative electrode active material is applied, at least one negative electrode tab electrically attached and coupled to the uncoated portion, and protruding downwardly from a lower portion of the electrode assembly; and a separator between the positive electrode plate and the negative electrode plate.

The second electrode includes a second electrode uncoated portion where an active material is not coated, the second uncoated portion being exposed at a second end of the second electrode in the axial direction, the second uncoated portion being configured to be a second electrode tab.     Abstract: An apparatus for welding a secondary battery electrode assembly is disclosed. The electrode assembly may have negative electrodes alternatingly interleaved with positive electrodes. The apparatus may be configured to weld a plurality of non-coated electrode tabs using a sonotrode horn, each of the tabs extending from a respective one of the electrodes having a first same polarity. The sonotrode horn may include a vibration-applying plate and a horn pattern region having a protrusion-type unit pitch pattern disposed on the vibration-applying plate. A radius of curvature of a side surface of the protrusion-type unit pitch pattern disposed at an outer edge of the horn pattern region may be directly proportional to a number of the non-coated electrode tabs. A tip sharpness of the protrusion-type unit pitch pattern disposed at an outer edge of the horn pattern region may be inversely proportional to a number of the non-coated electrode tabs.

    Abstract: Disclosed here is a battery including: an exterior body having a bottom wall; and a winding electrode body in which positive electrode, negative electrode and separator are wound about a winding axis. The winding electrode body has a flat shape having a pair of curvature parts having a curved outside surface and a flat part that connects the pair of curvature parts to each other and has a flat outside surface. When a line perpendicular to the winding axis of the winding electrode body and perpendicular to the bottom wall of the exterior body is assumed as L1, a portion positioned at an outermost periphery of the negative electrode in at least one of the pair of the curvature parts faces a portion positioned on a winding inner peripheral side of the negative electrode via the separator and not via the positive electrode on the line L1.

    Abstract: An electrochemical device includes a housing, an electrode assembly, a first tab, a second tab, and a third tab. The first tab and the second tab are connected to the first electrode plate. A protruding part of the second tab out of the housing is connected to a protruding part of the first tab out of the housing. Along a first direction, a projection of the protruding part of the first tab out of the housing overlaps a projection of the protruding part of the second tab out of the housing. By starting from a first leading end, the first tab is connected to the first electrode plate at a 10% to 60% point of a total length of the first electrode plate, and the second tab is connected to the first electrode plate at a 60% to 100% point of the total length of the first electrode plate.

    Abstract: A power storage device includes a first electrode having a first current collector, a second electrode having a second current collector, and a separator interposed between the first electrode and the second electrode. The first electrode, the second electrode, and the separator constitute a wound body having a columnar shape. The power storage device further includes a case having a cylindrical bottomed shape for accommodating the wound body, and a current collection plate electrically connected to the first electrode and the case. The first electrode has an overlapping region overlapping the current collection plate when viewed from a case axial direction and a non-overlapping region not overlapping the current collection plate when viewed from the axial direction. The first electrode and the current collection plate are electrically connected to each other in the overlapping region. The first current collector is provided in at least a part of the non-overlapping region, and has a contact part in contact with the case bottom.
