摘要: Model elements of an executable model, representing a physical system, are partitioned into one or more linear portions and one or more nonlinear portions. Simulating behavior of the physical system, by executing the model, includes, for each of multiple simulation time intervals, for a first nonlinear portion, computing a correlation matrix characterizing noise associated with one or more ports of the model. A scattering matrix corresponds to a portion of the physical system represented by the first nonlinear portion without accounting for any noise within the portion of the physical system. The correlation matrix is derived from the scattering matrix based on noise within the portion of the physical system. Noise sources representing noise within the portion of the physical system are identified based on the correlation matrix. At least one characteristic of noise associated with each noise source is computed, and noise characteristics are output at selected ports.

摘要: A liquid flow instructional system for presenting a proportions problem and for allowing the proportions problem to be solved comprises an input container and a plurality of output containers selectively and fluidly coupled to the input container. The system has an adjustable valve having a plurality of configurable regions. Each of the plurality of configurable regions corresponds to one of the plurality of output containers. An activable switch is provided for initiating flow of liquid from the input container to the plurality of output containers in accordance with a user configuration of the plurality of configurable regions. The proportions problem is solvable by filling each of the plurality of output containers to capacity without spillage. The correspondence between the plurality of configurable regions and the plurality of output containers is indicated by a visible indicator.

摘要: This is a kit for demonstrating Archimedes' principle and comprises a tub having an overflow spout, such that when a fluid level reaches the overflow spout, all additional fluid added to the tub will flow out of the overflow spout; and a stable boat sized to float in the tub without touching the sides of the tub. The kit may further comprise a balance beam which can balance on an edge of the tub, wherein one end of the balance beam has an attachment mechanism for attaching a counter weight, and the other end has an attachment mechanism for attaching a sample weight such that when the sample weight attached to this end, and the balance beam is balancing on the too edge of the tub, the sample weight will be submerged in the fluid in the tub. There is also provided a method for using this kit to demonstrate Archimedes' principle both for the buoyancy of a floating body, and the buoyancy for objects that do not float.
