    摘要: In one aspect, a protective headwear is provided and includes a headgear, an outer shell, a duct and a manifold. The headgear is configured to engage a wearer's head and at least partially support the protective headwear on a wearer's head. The headgear includes a front, a rear opposite the front, a right side, and a left side opposite the right side. The outer shell is coupled to the headgear at a coupling location and includes a shield positioned to the front of the headgear. The duct is at least partially coupled to and at least partially positioned in an interior of the outer shell. The duct is located below the coupling location.     摘要: A spike resistant package containing a pouch, a first grouping of spike resistant textile layers, and a slip layer. Each of the textile layers within the first grouping of textile layers contains a plurality of interwoven yarns or fibers having a tenacity of about 5 or more grams per denier. At least a portion of the spike resistant textile layers comprise about 10 wt. % or less, based on the total weight of the spike resistant textile layer, of a coating comprising a plurality of particles having a diameter of about 20 μm or less on at least one of the surfaces of the spike resistant textile layer. The slip layer has a stiffness of less than about 0.01 N-m and a static coefficient of friction (COF) between the slip layer and the second side of the first grouping of less than about 0.40. The pouch encapsulates the grouping of textile layers and slip layer. An article containing the package is also described.

    摘要: A head impact test apparatus is configured to enable viewing a head model including a brain component that may be at least partially surrounded by a fluid component and within a skull component. A head model may be a cross-sectional model of a person's head and have a translucent cover extending over the cross-sectional plane to enable viewing and image capture of the components of the head model. A camera may be configured to take a plurality of images during an impact test. These images may be analyzed to determine the acceleration and deformation of the brain component. An impact element is configured to impact the head model and the head model may have any type of helmet thereon. A helmet component may comprise a helmet cover. The test may be used to determine the effectiveness of helmets and helmet covers in reducing brain trauma.

    摘要: A modular helmet interface with a mounting cleat, threaded insert, and adhesive layer is provided. In one aspect, a mounting cleat is affixed to a helmet, such as a ballistic helmet, by an adhesive layer, the mounting cleat having an outer portion and a threaded insert within a cavity formed in the outer portion. The outer portion has an inward facing surface configured to receive an adhesive layer for coupling the inward facing surface to the helmet surface. In another aspect, a mounting cleat is secured to a helmet by way of a cleat-receiving securing member, the securing member affixed to the helmet by an adhesive layer. In a more limited aspect, a helmet having multiple mounting cleats configured to support an accessory mounting rail or a helmet mount assembly.

    摘要: A protective device and method of design to protect against multiple blast and impact events for use in any application in which a delicate target has to be protected. The protective device for mitigating the effects of blast or impact employs a first layer having a first acoustic impedance and a second layer having a second acoustic impedance. The second acoustic impedance is different than the first acoustic impedance. The second layer is proximate to the first layer. The first layer and the second layer are chosen collectively to tune the stress waves from the blast or impact events to one or more specific tuned frequencies. A third layer of a visco-elastic material is employed having a critical damping frequency that matches one or more specific tuned frequencies to dissipate the stress waves of the blast and impact event. The third layer is proximate to the second layer.
