    Abstract: A rail interface system for connecting a helmet accessory component to a helmet comprises an interface body configured for attachment to an exterior surface of a helmet. The interface body is configured for attachment of the helmet accessory component. A slotted interface portion on the interface body has opposing first and second surfaces. At least one elongated rail opening extends through the slotted interface portion and is configured to receive a retention clip on the helmet accessory device for detachably securing the helmet accessory device to the rail interface system. At least one electrical connector is positioned adjacent a respective one of the at least one elongated rail opening. The at least one electrical connector is operational to provide one or both of electrical power and data communication to the helmet accessory component when the helmet accessory component is attached to the rail interface system.

    Abstract: A pivot assembly for pivoting a viewing device in relation to a helmet includes a connection plate configured to be coupled to a helmet interface assembly. A hinge barrel is pivotable about a pivot axis in relation to the connection plate among (a) a deployed position in which the hinge barrel is held relative to the connection plate in positive, locking retention; 5 (b) a stowed position in which the hinge barrel is held relative to the connection plate in positive, locking retention; and (c) an intermediate position between the deployed and stowed positions, wherein the hinge barrel is held relative to the connection plate by a threshold retentive force and wherein displacement of the hinge barrel from the intermediate position 10 relative to the connection plate requires application of an actuating force which exceeds the threshold retentive force. In a further aspect, a helmet mount apparatus is provided.

    Abstract: A central network controller for a weapon comprises a plurality of computer ports for attaching electronic weapon accessory devices. Each of the computer ports is configured to permit interchangeable use of the electronic weapon accessory devices on a weapon. A processor and an associated electronic memory are operably coupled to the plurality of computer ports. One or more input devices are operably coupled to the processor and are configurable to control operation of an attached one or more of said electronic weapon accessory devices. The central network controller is configured to permit communication between the electronic weapon accessory devices and the processor to permit control of the electronic weapon accessory devices based on input from the one or more input devices. The central network controller is configured to facilitate electronic communication between the electronic weapon accessory devices by mediating transmission of signals between the electronic weapon accessory devices.

    Abstract: A modular helmet interface with a mounting cleat, threaded insert, and adhesive layer is provided. In one aspect, a mounting cleat is affixed to a helmet, such as a ballistic helmet, by an adhesive layer, the mounting cleat having an outer portion and a threaded insert within a cavity formed in the outer portion. The outer portion has an inward facing surface configured to receive an adhesive layer for coupling the inward facing surface to the helmet surface. In another aspect, a mounting cleat is secured to a helmet by way of a cleat-receiving securing member, the securing member affixed to the helmet by an adhesive layer. In a more limited aspect, a helmet having multiple mounting cleats configured to support an accessory mounting rail or a helmet mount assembly.

    Abstract: A helmet mounting system for attaching an accessory device to a helmet includes one or more cables with a hook for removably engaging the brim of the helmet. Each cable has an end attached to a spool which is rotatable in a first direction for winding of the cable(s) around the spool and a second direction for unwinding the cable. A tensioning mechanism is coupled to the spool. In certain embodiments, one or more accessory devices are electrically coupled to a power and data management module for routing power, data and control signals to the one or more accessory devices. Accessory devices are interchangeable, providing a modular system that can be customized to meet mission requirements and accessory devices are removable and replaceable as mission requirements change.
