In one embodiment, the seam forming assembly includes three roller members mounted in vertical arrangement to each other, one roller member being V-shaped in configuration and the other two roller members being substantially cylindrical in shape. The V-shaped roller member may also include one or more projecting members for forming dimples in the closing process to prevent shifting and/or slipping of the closed seam.

The large screws are threadedly inserted fully through the corner plates of a first duct section and hold perpendicular thereto for guiding alignment with the mating duct section. The screws hold the duct sections apart to allow aligning them without fluid sealant or tape gasket material on one of the duct sections contacting the other. The screws are then threadedly engaged with the corner plates of the mating duct section, bringing the duct sections together with a leak resistant seal therebetween. Optional hanger brackets can be placed between the corner plates before assembly, and additional screws used to deform the flanges and corner plates about the brackets to compress the sealant or gasket thereabout.

A corner seal device is disclosed for use in preventing unwanted air leaks in ductwork sections intended for directing conditioned air in heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems (i.e., HVAC systems). The corner seal device eliminates potential air leaks caused inter alia, by the flange members of the ductwork sections, and further, it avoids previously known costly expenses and loss of time to seal the unwanted air leaks created when the flange members of the ductwork sections are made and are prepared for assembly of the ductwork sections. A method of assembly of such ductwork sections incorporating the unique corner seal device of the invention, is also disclosed. A duct for directing conditioned air in heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems incorporating such ducts is also disclosed. A heating, ventilating and air conditioning system incorporating such unique corner seal device and related structures is also disclosed.
