Abstract: A surgical positioning system includes a platform assembly and an alignment post coupled to the platform assembly. The platform assembly has first and second members and an elevation assembly. The first member is supported on a surgical operating table. The second member is arranged over the first member and supports thereon a first portion of a patient undergoing surgery. The elevation assembly moves the second member with respect to the first member so as to change an elevation of the first portion of the patient. In some embodiments, a positioning member is coupled to the alignment post. The positioning member is inflatable between a deflated state and an inflated state in order to displace part of the patient thereon vertically and laterally. In some embodiments, the surgical positioning system can be used to position the anatomy of a patient during a hip replacement surgery.

Abstract: With an examination table device according to an aspect of the present invention, locking of a traveling unit and locking of a top plate are automatically (independently of an operation of a user) are performed in conjunction with connection between the examination table device and a medical image capturing apparatus, so that it is not necessary for the user to perform operations for the locking of the traveling unit and the locking of the top plate in a case of the connection and the connection release. In addition, there is no concern that the traveling unit is not locked due to operation forgetting, the locking release of the top plate is not in time for an operation timing, or the like. Therefore, the locking states of the traveling unit and the top plate can be reliably controlled.

Abstract: A method for hip distraction includes positioning a patient on a slide-resisting pad placed on a surgical table; tilting the surgical table so that the patient is in a first degree of inclination; applying a distraction force to a leg of the patient while the patient is in the first degree of inclination so that a hip joint of the patient is distracted, wherein the distraction force is opposed by a combination of a slide-resisting friction force provided by the slide-resisting pad and a gravitational force attributable to the first degree of inclination; reducing the tilt of the surgical table in accordance with a reduction of the distraction force over time so that the patient is in a second degree of inclination; and performing at least a portion of a surgical procedure on the distracted hip joint while the patient is in the second degree of inclination.
