Abstract: In embodiments, a Wearable Cardiac Defibrillator (WCD) system is configured to be worn by an ambulatory patient. The WCD system includes a main user interface (UI) output device that can output an image, sound or vibration as a main message about a condition of the patient or the WCD system. The patient may further carry a peripheral device that can also output an image, sound or vibration as a peripheral message about the condition. The peripheral message may mirror the main message at least in part, amplify it, and so on. The availability of the peripheral message provides the patient with the opportunity to better perceive the main message, and the flexibility to receive and react to it discreetly, learn more about the condition, and so on.

Abstract: This disclosure is directed to devices, systems, and techniques for monitoring a patient condition. In some examples, a medical device system includes a medical device comprising a set of sensors. Additionally, the medical device system includes processing circuitry configured to identify, based on at least one signal of the set of signals, a time of an event corresponding to the patient and set a time window based on the time of the event. Additionally, the processing circuitry is configured to save, to a fall risk database in a memory, a set of data including one or more signals of the set of signals so that the fall risk database may be analyzed in order to determine a fall risk score corresponding to the patient, wherein the set of data corresponds to the time window.

Abstract: A method, comprising receiving a time series of patient body signal, determining first and second sliding time windows for the time series; applying an autoregression algorithm, comprising: applying an autoregression analysis to each of the first and second windows, yielding autoregression coefficients and a residual variance for each window; estimating a parameter vector for each window based on the autoregression coefficients and residual variances; and determining a difference between the parameter vectors; and determining seizure onset and seizure termination based on the difference between the parameter vectors. A non-transitory computer readable program storage unit encoded with instructions that, when executed by a computer, perform the method.

Abstract: A method for dynamically acquiring maximal oxygen consumption includes acquiring user's age, gender, weight, resting heart rate and maximum heart rate; detecting basic heart rate data comprising a plurality of exercise heart rates and basic speed data comprising a plurality of exercise speeds; calculating a characteristic heart rate and a characteristic speed based on the basic heart rate data and the basic speed data; and calculating the user's maximal oxygen consumption according to the user's age, gender, weight, resting heart rate and maximum heart rate, the characteristic heart rate and the characteristic speed. The maximal oxygen consumption for each exercise can be dynamically calculated and the result is accurate.

Another external device memory data is acquired over a pre-specified time period. A determination is made as to whether to adjust treatment of the patient in response to the risk status, the data acquired from the implanted device memory and the external device memory data.
