Abstract: Embodiments of the present application provide communication methods and systems. One method comprises receiving, from a first access network device, signaling destined for a terminal device, wherein the terminal device is in a radio resource control (RRC) inactive mode. A first paging message is sent to a second access network device for paging the terminal device and first indication information is received indicating that the terminal device is connected to a second access network device. After receiving the signaling destined for the terminal device, the first access network device can learn the terminal device has connected to the second access network device, and therefore performs proper subsequent processing.

Abstract: A terminal receives configuration information from a first access network device. The configuration information includes a paging area information that indicates a paging area for the terminal in a first mode. In the first mode, the terminal sends a first message to a second access network device when the terminal is in a cell that does not belong to the paging area. The first message includes a paging area update indication. The terminal then receives a connection establishment indication from the second access network device, and establishes a connection between the terminal and the second access network device. The terminal sends a second message to a core network device using the established connection between the terminal and the second access network device, the core network device releases a connection between the first access network device and the core network device established for the terminal in response to the second message.

Abstract: Various examples and schemes pertaining to user equipment (UE) group wake-up signal (WUS) in narrowband IoT (NB-IoT) are described. A wireless network indicates to a plurality of user equipment (UEs) a paging configuration of a UE-group wake-up signal (WUS) for one or more groups of UEs among the plurality of UEs in an NB-IoT cell. The paging configuration may be related to a discontinuous reception (DRX) cycle and a value related to UE identification of each UE in the one or more groups of UEs. The wireless network also transmits the UE-group WUS to the one or more groups of UEs.

Abstract: A device may broadcast an indication of an activity level of the device. The device may also receive a notification of an incoming message and receive at least one broadcast from at least one additional device also receiving the notification of the incoming message including an indication of at least one activity level of the at least one additional device. The device may compare its own activity level with the received at least one activity level. In response to determining that the activity level of the device is equal to or greater than a highest received at least one activity level, the device may display the notification of the incoming message.

Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for uplink and downlink based mobility using single frequency network (SFN) paging and/or keep alive (KA) signals in a wireless network, such as new radio (NR). According to certain aspects, a method of wireless communication by a user equipment (UE) is provided. The method generally includes receiving a paging message, wherein the paging message comprises a SFN transmission from a plurality of cells that transmit an identical paging message simultaneously on a same frequency and decoding the paging message. Another method performed by a UE is provided, including transmitting an uplink reference signal to one or more of a plurality of cells, receiving a KA signal from at least two of the plurality of cells, and monitoring for a paging message based on the KA signal.

Abstract: VoIP-based telephone is provided with integral paging amplifier and a WiFi antenna, and is designed for hazardous areas such as UL Class I, Division 1, Division 2 and IEC Ex including the WiFi antenna. A system of VoIP-based telephone units supports multicast to provide prioritized and loudspeaker-zoned paging. The integral 30-watt class D amplifier in the telephone units provides sufficient volume for paging and ringing to be reliably detected by personnel in hazardous locations. Upon lifting the handset, the telephone unit can automatically revert to standard VoIP telephone operation. The telephones can be powered via DC, AC or with Power over Ethernet (POE).
