摘要:
A system and method for providing location information to a public safety answering point may include receiving, at a network access point, an emergency 911 call signal including GPS location information and mobile directory number of a wireless device. The GPS location information and mobile directory information may be communicated to a selective router associated with a public safety access point servicing an area including the network access point. The network access point may be a WiFi access point. The access point address information may be communicated using a type II caller ID data packet after the public safety answering point goes off-hook. By communicating both the access point address information and GPS location information, both PSAPs that are configured as E911 Phase I and E911 Phase II may display address location information of an emergency 911 caller.

Telephone tones such as dialing tones and busy or engaged tones differ in different countries and in traditional telephone networks it has been possible to deal with this because national telephone networks have been used. However, with the advent of next generation communications networks in which telephone services are transmitted over a packet network, a need has arisen to manage telephone tones in a more sophisticated manner. To address this, a tone service provides telephone tone information to tone recipients such as media gateways, session initiation protocol (SIP) phones and virtual media gateways. In the event that a new tone recipient is added to the packet network, the tone service is able to automatically provide appropriate telephone tone information to that new tone recipient. Similarly, if telephone tones need to be upgraded or rolled back, the tone service is able to automatically provide appropriate telephone tone information to each of the tone recipients.

Methods and systems for obtaining the location of a caller during an emergency or other telephone call. Before or during a call, a phone system can obtain from one or more sources a subscriber access line identity associated with a subscriber location record that includes a subscriber access line identity attribute and a subscriber location attribute. A phone system can send a query that includes the subscriber access line identity to a subscriber location query system that returns a subscriber location record or a subscriber location to the phone system. The phone system can then display the caller location information to a phone system, an agent or operator so that emergency services can be quickly and accurately dispatched. Using similar procedure and a memory, phone systems can also determine if a subscriber phone has or is changing location. Methods for testing the emergency call capabilities of a subscriber access line.

A supervisory system and method automatically tracks and reports the status, e.g., current address, employer, telephone number, etc., of a group of enrollees, and automatically collects a fee for such service. Each enrollee "reports in" to a host CPU of the system in accordance with a specific contact schedule, e.g., once a month, through a fee-based telephone network that automatically charges a prescribed toll fee to the originating telephone number whenever telephone contact remains established for more than a preamble time period. The host CPU, using individual calling line identification (ICLID) information included in the incoming telephone call, identifies the telephone number of the incoming call and determines if it belongs to an enrollee of the system. If not, the incoming call is disconnected before the preamble time period expires, thereby preventing the incoming caller from being charged the toll fee. Further, if a given enrollee attempts to report in more than once during the same reporting period, the incoming call is disconnected before the preamble time period expires, thereby preventing the incoming caller from being charged the toll fee more than once for a given reporting period. When valid telephone contact is established, the identify of the caller is verified to make sure it is an enrollee, and the verified enrollee then updates the status information, if needed. Reports are generated to selectively indicate which enrollees have or have not reported during the prescribed reporting period, and any change in their status.
