    摘要: A magnetron has a first set of vanes etc which connect by legs to a coaxial output coupler and a second set of vanes etc which (in one embodiment) alternate with the vanes of the first set and are not connected to the output coupler. The vanes of each set are held, for example, by strap rings which may be distributed along the length of the anode, at the same potential as each other, and the polarity of the vanes of one set is opposite to that of the other set. A problem with such a magnetron is that there is capacitive coupling between the cathode and the output coupler, which can lead to the coaxial TEM mode propagating along the cathode. According to the invention, additional capacitive coupling is introduced by means of axial extensions 19a etc on the ends of the set of vanes etc which are not connected to the output coupler, and by choice of dimensions, the cathode is substantially decoupled from the output coupler because of the opposite polarity of the two sets of vanes.

    摘要: The invention relates to resonant devices such as cavity magnetrons having a plurality of resonant cavities in a common block of which at least two adjacent cavities exhibit magnetic fields of opposing phase. In order to achieve coupling to or from the device a co-axial transmission line formed by an annular hole of constant cross sectional dimensions is provided extending into the block, such that a portion of the annular hole to one side of the inner wall forming member breaks into one of the two cavities and a portion of the annular hole to the opposite side of the inner wall forming member breaks into the other of the two cavities. The transmission line may be used to effect tuning of the device by coupling tuning means to the end of the hole remote from the cavities.

    摘要: A microwave crossfield amplifier tube of circular format is disclosed. Transmission line transition sections are provided for impedance-matching the ends of a slow wave circuit to hollow rectangular waveguides axially directed of the tube. Each transition includes a T-bar connector inside the rectangular waveguide. The upright portion of the T-bar is connected to the end of the slow wave circuit via the intermediary of a section of coaxial line which tapers into a stripline portion which in turn is connected to the slow wave circuit.
