An assembly comprising an outer and an inner frame, the inner frame riding on rail portions and being cammed by a mechanism operated by a side mounted handle. Mating electrical contacts are provided on the inner and outer frames. Mechanical interlocks are provided to guard against breaking or making the load current path at the mating connectors. The interlocks disconnect the side mounted handle from the camming mechanism if electrical contacts in an electrical switching device carried by the inner frame are in the closed position.

An electric plug connector for the handicapped to promote easier and safer manual connection and separation of a standard, twoprong plug of a household appliance to and from a source of electrical power. The connector includes a nonconducting receptacle open at the top and shaped to promote the easy insertion and removal of the plug prongs in generally a horizontal position into and from a pair of shaped slots containing electrical contacts connected to a source of current through a switch. A cover, pivotally mounted on the receptacle, prevents access to the contacts or plug when the cover is closed. The cover is provided with a pair of downwardly directed studs which press the prongs into locking engagement with the contacts when the cover is closed. A switch is actuated by the cover to allow a flow of current to the contacts when the cover is in the closed position and deactivated when the cover is raised to the open position. When the cover is opened, the plug prongs are freed from the electrical contacts to promote easy removal of the plug from the connector.

There is provided an interlock apparatus of a vacuum circuit breaker for adjusting withdrawal of a circuit breaker main body, which is installed in a truck and moves to a connected position in which the circuit breaker main body is connected to a cradle and moves to a disconnected position in which the circuit breaker main body is separated from the cradle within the cradle, to outside of the cradle, includes: a lift including a rotation adjusting plate provided on an upper portion thereof, and moving forwardly and backwardly such that the rotation adjusting plate is inserted into the interior of the cradle or separated from the cradle; and an interlock plate provided within the cradle and rotating according to movement of the rotation adjusting plate so as to be tightly attached to the truck or released from the tightly attached state to thereby adjust withdrawal of the circuit breaker main body to the outside of the cradle.

High voltage electrical switchgear comprises a chamber (1) in which is enclosed input contacts (8), output contacts (24) and earth contacts (16). A movable switch (12) may connect either the input to the output contacts or the output to the earth contacts. The output contacts are connected by a conductor (25) extending through the wall of the chamber to a connector unit located externally of the chamber. The connector unit (27) has a conductor (32) moulded in situ in a housing (28) having a socket (30) receiving a plug (26) cast integrally with the chamber and through which the conductor (25) extends. An output cable (34) is connected to the connector unit, which also provides contacts (37) for connection to a test unit. A cover (40) protects the connector unit and interlock means (58,43) act to allow opening of the cover only when the switch (12) connects the output contacts with the earth contacts.

A circuit breaker comprises an adjustable trip unit having electronic circuitry for initiating a tripping command upon detection of overcurrent conditions. The trip unit includes an externally accessible interchangeable plug-in rating adjuster removably supported on the housing of the circuit breaker by a threaded rod and tube. An interlock mechanism cooperates with the trip bar of the circuit breaker and secured mechanism to insure that only when a compatible rating adjuster is properly seated in the housing and the threaded rod is completely engaged within the threaded tube will the circuit breaker mechanism be removed from the trip-free condition. Coordination of a proper rating adjuster with a corresponding trip unit and circuit breaker is achieved by coordinating the lengths of the rod and tube and the position of the threaded portions thereof such that only a rating adjuster which is electrically compatible with a particular circuit breaker and trip unit will properly engage the threads of the tube to remove the circuit breaker from the trip-free condition.
