    摘要: A current switch including a main contact including an electrically conductive knife, and an electrically insulating element, fitted in a mobile manner on a first portion of electric line in order to alternatively follow an opening movement and a closing movement; a shunt branch including a first part electrically connected to a second portion of the line, including a vacuum interrupter configured to be actuated alternatively between an open state and a closed state, a second part fitted in a mobile manner on the first part and configured to actuate the vacuum interrupter. During the opening movement, the electrically conductive knife acts upon the second part in order to actuate the vacuum interrupter, and during the closing movement, the electrically insulating element acts upon the second part without actuating the vacuum interrupter.

    摘要: An underarm gang operated vacuum break switch (underarm switch) has an electrically live portion under a mounting arm, which provides advantages over the standard vacuum break switch, which have the electrically live portion above the mounting arm. Because the non-electrified mounting arm is above the electrified portion, the underarm switch is safer for perching birds and other wildlife. The nature of the underarm switch also provides other benefits including a disconnect blade that when opened creates a visual gap to ensure electrical discontinuity along with a safety locking arm tied to deactivating the underarm switch. Adding to the safety measures is a visual indicator that shows an electrician when the switch is live and safe to open the disconnect blade. Other safety measures include a shock absorber assembly and inertia slowing mass protecting electrical contacts within the vacuum break switch from failing.

    摘要: An actuator for opening the separable contacts of a circuit interrupter integrates a Thomson coil arrangement into the movable and stationary conductor assemblies. A movable separable contact is coupled to one end of the movable conductor, and a stationary separable contact is coupled to one end of the stationary conductor. The movable and stationary conductors are each formed with a collar positioned near the respective movable and stationary separable contacts. The actuator further includes a coil seated within a coil housing, and the coil housing is coupled to the stationary conductor collar. A conductive member shaped as a cup and structured to be actuated by the coil is coupled to the movable conductor collar, such that the rim of the cup faces the coil. A housing is positioned around the conductive member cup body with bellows and coupled to the coil housing, forming a vacuum chamber around the separable contacts.

    摘要: Devices, systems and methods are provided to improve communication of switch sensor and status signals between a medium voltage overheard switchgear and an intelligent electronic device (IED). A switchgear interface device is deployed proximally to a switchgear and/or junction box situated at a distal end of a utility pole. The switchgear interface device (SID) receives, processes and combines sensor signals and status signals from switches in the switchgear with metadata for transport as digital signals to an IED mounted at the other end of the utility pole. The cabling for sensor and status signals between the SID and the IED can be fiber or Ethernet. The digital signals can be formatted using the IEC61850 standard. The SID can have drive electronics and send open and close command signals to the switches to eliminate the need for a multi-pin connector cable for transport of switch power signals from the IED.

    摘要: An electric power disconnect switch and associated vacuum circuit interrupter with a modular, removable contactor unit housing a modular, removable vacuum bottle unit. The vacuum circuit interrupter may be mounted on a bracket adjacent to the jaws of a disconnect switch, where the blade of the disconnect switch moves the actuator arm of the vacuum circuit interrupter during operation of the disconnect switch. A technician carries a spare contactor unit to the disconnect switch location, where the technician removes and replaces the contactor unit. The vacuum circuit interrupter includes a separable connection between the drive unit housing and a contactor unit housing, which allows the contactor unit to be rotated with respect to the drive unit to unscrew the connecting rod of the contactor unit from the drive shaft of the drive unit. A replacement contactor unit is then installed and the circuit interrupter is returned to service.
