    Abstract: A keyboard structure, including: a keycap; a transparent membrane layer; and an elastic element, disposed between the keycap and the transparent membrane layer and having a press portion, where the transparent membrane layer includes: a first opening corresponding to the keycap; a hard membrane layer, having an extension portion that is formed at an inner edge of the first opening inner edge; and a spacer layer, disposed under the hard membrane layer and used for forming a gap. When the keycap is pressed with an external force, the elastic element is deformed to enable the press portion to move downward and abut against the extension portion, so that the extension portion generates a bending deformation in the gap; and when the external force is released, the elastic element and the extension portion are elastically recovered and the extension portion generates a sound.

    Abstract: A keyboard switch for a keyboard includes a base secured to a plunger that reciprocates with respect to the base and is biased away from the base. An electrical contact assembly is positioned within a cavity defined by the base and the plunger. The electrical contact assembly remains in an electrically open state when the plunger is furthest from the base, but the electrical contact assembly enters an electrically closed state when the plunger is longitudinally moved downwardly by force towards the base. In this regard, a cam protruding from a side portion of a body of the plunger has a profile surface that contacts the electrical contact assembly as the plunger is longitudinally moved towards the base. A curved profile of the cam that incorporates a concave arc uniquely changes the amount of force experienced by the typist at different points of the downward motion of the plunger.

    Abstract: A thin keyboard device is described herein. In one or more implementations, a keyboard device includes a plurality of keys, and a housing that includes a structural printed circuit board (PCB). The structural PCB includes, for each of the plurality of keys, a first conductive trace and a second conductive trace. The keyboard device further includes a key-switch mechanism for each of the plurality of keys. The key-switch mechanism includes a conductive material oriented towards the first conductive trace and the second conductive trace, and is configured to cause the conductive material to move downwards, when the key is depressed, to electrically connect the first conductive trace and the second conductive trace of the depressed key.

    Abstract: An input device for use with a first electronic device and a second electronic device includes a frame, a plurality of manually depressible input members supported by the frame, a communication module supported by the frame and operable to selectively communicate with the first electronic device and the second electronic device, and a switch supported by the frame and coupled to the communication module. The switch is operable to change whether the communication module communicates with the first electronic device or the second electronic device. The input device also includes a light source coupled to the switch and positioned at least partially within the frame. The light source is operable to provide a backlight for the plurality of input members. The backlight is modified in response to actuation of the switch.

    Abstract: Key stabilization techniques for a key assembly or keyboard are provided. In one embodiment, a key assembly includes a keycap having a touch surface for receiving a press force that moves the keycap from an unpressed position toward a pressed position. The key assembly also includes a base having a planar-translation effecting mechanism supporting the keycap to guide the keycap in the press direction and the second direction as the keycap moves from the unpressed position toward the pressed position. A key stabilization mechanism positioned in the keycap, the base or both the keycap and the base configured to the stabilize the keycap so that the touch surface remains substantially planar while the keycap moves from the unpressed position toward the press position to resist tilt of the keycap and rotation of the keycap about an axis in the press direction as keycap moves toward the pressed position.

    Abstract: Methods and apparatus for a touchsurface assembly such as a key assembly are described. The touchsurface assembly includes a sheet metal component having ramps formed therein and a keycap having ramp contacting features and a touchsurface for receiving a press force that moves the keycap toward a pressed position. The ramp contacting features contact at least one of the ramps in the sheet metal component while the keycap moves toward the pressed position, the ramps guiding the keycap to move in a second direction orthogonal to the press direction as the keycap moves from the unpressed position toward the pressed position.

Each of the unit parts includes a contact which is electrically connected when depressed and an elastic member. The moving members include a first moving member which engages with one unit part, and a second moving member which engages with plural unit parts. The second moving member has a structure where the second moving member pushes the elastic member of one unit part and avoids pushing the elastic member of the other unit part.
