Abstract:
Accessories such as headsets for electronic devices are provided. A headset may be provided with a button controller assembly that has user-actuated buttons and a microphone. The microphone may be formed by mounting a microphone transducer on a printed circuit board. A housing may be mounted over the transducer to form a sealed cavity for the transducer. Circuitry may be mounted on portions of the printed circuit board that extend beyond the edges of the microphone housing. The button controller assembly may have dome switches. The dome switches may have a housing that encloses dome switch components and that forms a structural internal part for the button controller. The dome switch housing structure may have tabs or other engagement features that mate with corresponding engagement features in a button member. The button member may be pressed by a user to actuate a desired dome switch.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus for a touchsurface assembly such as a key assembly are described. The touchsurface assembly includes a sheet metal component having ramps formed therein and a keycap having ramp contacting features and a touchsurface for receiving a press force that moves the keycap toward a pressed position. The ramp contacting features contact at least one of the ramps in the sheet metal component while the keycap moves toward the pressed position, the ramps guiding the keycap to move in a second direction orthogonal to the press direction as the keycap moves from the unpressed position toward the pressed position.

Abstract:
A keyboard is provided with a base member, moving members provided on the base member and unit parts. Each of the unit parts includes a contact which is electrically connected when depressed and an elastic member. The moving members include a first moving member which engages with one unit part, and a second moving member which engages with plural unit parts. The second moving member has a structure where the second moving member pushes the elastic member of one unit part and avoids pushing the elastic member of the other unit part.

Abstract:
An encoder transmits numerical data in the form of coded bursts of audio frequency tones. The encoder includes levers which move through successive index positions in slots having numerical indicia. Each lever represents a different decimal order digit of the price of merchandise sold. Each lever is provided with a plurality of encoding switches which are moved past stationary switch actuators. Different groups of switch actuators are aligned with successive index positions of the levers to actuate selected pairs of switches according to the numerical indicia with which the levers are aligned. A tone generator is electrically coupled to the switches by a multiplexer to produce a serial output comprising frequencies which uniquely identify the selected data.
Abstract:
A device includes an engaging portion, a controller component, and a plurality of actuators. The engaging portion is configured to mechanically engage with at least one switch assembly. The plurality of actuators are capable of being actuated by the switch assembl(ies) when it/they are engaged with the engaging portion and depressed. The controller is configured to detect a first pattern of the plurality of actuators actuated at a time and responsively recognize a first type of switch assembly. The controller is also configured to detect a second (different) pattern of the plurality of actuators actuated at a time and responsively recognize a second (different) type of switch assembly.

Abstract:
A keyboard module adapted to be used in an electronic device. The electronic device has a casing. The casing has a containing opening. The keyboard module contained in the containing opening includes a bottom plate, an elastic component, a cover and a key cap disposed on the elastic component. The bottom plate disposed within the casing has a circuit. The elastic component is disposed on the bottom plate or the circuit. The cover movably disposed in the containing opening is located above the bottom plate. The cover has an opening aligned to the elastic component. A portion of the key cap protrudes from the opening Another portion of the key cap interferes with the opening, such that the key cap resists elasticity of the elastic component and moves to shorten a distance between the key cap and the bottom plate when the cover moves toward the bottom plate.
