Abstract:
Method and apparatus are described that translate addresses of transactions. A first interface may receive a first address portion of a first transaction and a first address portion of a second transaction. The first address portion may be translated to a second address portion prior to receiving all portions of the first transaction. The first address portion of the second transaction may be translated to a second address portion prior to receiving all portions of the first transaction.
Abstract:
A clustering storage system capable of operating a plurality of storage system units as a single storage system by connecting the storage system units with one another by means of data connection lines collects access information to the system. The access information is collected in a unit of combination of a logical port receiving an access command from a host computer and a logical volume constituting a unit for management of data. A combination of the logical port and the logical volume having a high frequency of data transfer between the storage system units are detected with reference to the collected access information and the logical port is remapped or the logical volume between the storage system units is remapped.
Abstract:
To enable setting for transmission through network such as IEEE1394 system with input plugs freely, when transmitting data obtained in an output device connected to a predetermined network to the network from a predetermined output plug of the output device and receiving that data through a predetermined input plug of an input device connected to the network, the output device confirms an address of a buffer for storing data obtained in the input plug of the input device temporarily prior to start of data transmission, according to an address set in a predetermined pointer within a register constituting the input plug and then, transmits data from the output device to the confirmed address.
Abstract:
An apparatus comprising one or more enclosures and a controller. The one or more enclosures may each comprise one or more drives. The controller may be configured to map correctly correlating addresses to one or more drives. An advantageous aspect of the present invention is the ability to support general enclosure wiring when associating data with physical devices, such as associating SES data with physical devices on a fiber channel loop with soft addresses.
Abstract:
A method, apparatus, and computer instructions for displaying data. Each entry in a plurality of entries for an overlay window attribute table (WAT) is set with identical information in which a window identifier is unnecessary for accessing the information in the overlay WAT. Information in a color WAT is retrieved using the set of window identifiers in response to receiving a set of window identifiers. The information in the overlay WAT is retrieved without requiring the window identifier. Pixels are displayed on a display screen using the information retrieved from the color WAT and the information retrieved from the overlay WAT.
Abstract:
Method and a device are disclosed for a fast performance of network operations via a network with high delay times by means of a module for processing system calls of an application layer and for initiating network operations of a network layer. In the module a differentiation between a blocking and non-blocking implementation mode is made. A non-blocking execution mode means that the considered system call returns a logical value as a result to the application, which signals whether the system call was successfully executed. In this case it is provided by the method and device to directly send a logical value to the application when a non-blocking system call is called, without having waited for the actual result of the operation executed in the communicating partner instance and corresponding to the system call. The handling of the results of the actually executed operations takes place at a later time. With this modification, the network operations, which are derived from the system calls, are executed faster, as the actual result is not waited for at each call, which also implies the reduction of the number of required RTTs (Round Trip Time).
Abstract:
A resolution converting method, device, and computer-readable recording medium that can improve the quality of a resolution-converted image. The invention converts resolution based on a model generated through statistical processing of multiple images by preparing multiple models having different resolutions, receiving an input image, projecting the input image onto a model to obtain characteristic parameters of the input image, and generating an image by applying the obtained characteristic parameters to a model. Using the characteristic parameters thereby obtained, an image is generated using a model different from the model used to obtain the characteristic parameters. Consequently, the invention is capable of improving the quality of the resolution-converted image.
Abstract:
A packet communication apparatus processes consecutively transmitted fixed-length packets. The apparatus includes a storage circuit, a first processing circuit which accesses the storage circuit for processing data obtained from each of the packets, and a second processing circuit which accesses the storage circuit for processing data stored in the storage circuit. The apparatus further includes an allocation circuit for executing access time allocation with respect to a packet processing time allowed for processing each of the packets. Specifically, the allocation circuit allocates a first time of the packet processing time to the first processing circuit for accessing the storage circuit and a second time of the packet processing time to the second processing circuit for accessing the storage circuit. The first time and the second time are prevented from overlapping with each other.
Abstract:
A method and system for managing I/O information for a computer system is disclosed. The method comprises gathering I/O information for a plurality of devices in the computer system when the computer system is booted, formatting the I/O information, storing the formatted I/O information and displaying the formatted I/O information on a display means to be viewed by an operator for monitoring and managing the I/O information for the computer system.
Abstract:
A method for performing domain validation testing of SCSI devices connected to a SCSI bus is provided. The method includes booting up a computer system having a SCSI device connected to the SCSI bus. The method also includes launching a domain validation utility after booting up of the computer system is complete and selecting a set of domain validation parameters using the domain validation utility. Further included in the method is issuing a domain validation command implementing the set of domain validation parameters. Performing the domain validation of the SCSI device is designed to enable validation of an optimum data transfer speed of the SCSI device over the SCSI bus.
