    摘要: Described is a polymerizable organic composition comprising: (a) a radically polymerizable gel-free prepolymer of (i) at least one first polymerizable monomer having at least two radically polymerizable ethylenically unsaturated groups, e.g., divinyl benzene, and (ii) at least one first polythiol monomer having at least two thiol groups, e.g., thioglycerol bis(mercaptoacetate); and (b) at least one second polymerizable monomer having at least two radically polymerizable ethylenically unsaturated groups, e.g., divinyl benzene and/or methacrylic anhydride, the first and second radically polymerizable monomers each being substantially free of norbornene groups. The molar equivalent ratio of ethylenically unsaturated groups of (a)(i) to the thiol groups of (a)(ii) is no greater than 1:1. The described polymerizable composition has reduced shrinkage, and a polymerizate prepared therefrom has a refractive index of at least 1.57 and an Abbe number of at least 33.

    摘要: Described are photochromic organic resin compositions and the impact resistant polymerizates and coating compositions made therefrom. The organic resin composition comprises the reaction product of at least one polyol having greater than 1.0 hydroxyl groups; at least one polyisocyanate having greater than 1.0 isocyanato groups; and at least one polyamine curing agent having greater than 1.0 amino groups. The polymerizates are made photochromic either by the addition of organic photochromic compounds to the reactants used to form the polymerizate or by methods that imbibe or transfer the photochromic compounds into the polymerizate. Optically clear photochromic and impact resistant articles such as ophthalmic lenses and articles having photochromic coatings prepared from the photochromic organic resin compositions are also described.

    摘要: The invention relates to photochromic plastic objects comprising a plastic material and at least two photochromic pyran derivatives, which are introduced therein and, in each case, have an aryl group, which is linked to the carbon atom adjacent to the pyran oxygen atom and is substituted with at least one group containing at least one nitrogen atom, the longest wavelength absorption maximum of the light-stimulated form of the one pyran derivative lying above 550 nm and the longest wavelength absorption of the light-stimulated form of the other pyran derivative lying below 550 nm and the pyran derivative, absorbing at the shorter wavelength, being selected from 3[H]-naphtho[2,1-b]pyrans and the pyran derivative, absorbing at the longer wavelength, being selected from indeno[2,1-f]naphtho[1,2-b]pyrans or spiro-9-fluoreno[1,2-b]pyrans. The photochromic plastic objects of the present invention are distinguished particularly by a long service life, a good decolorization rate, by the absence of yellowing as well as by a neutral perceived color, it being possible to dispense largely or completely with the use of stabilizers and the like in the inventive plastic objects.

    摘要: Disclosed are photochromic contact lenses which include transparent organic materials having an index of refraction of more than 1.55. The material is prepared by radical polymerization of a polymerizable composition which includes (a) 80-95 wt % of at least one monomer represented by the general formula (I): where R is H or CH3 and m and n are independently 1 or 2; (b) 5-20 wt % of at least one aromatic monovinyl monomer; (c) an effective amount of at least one dye that imparts photochromic properties to the materials, selected from the groups of spiroxazines, spiropyrans and chromenes; (d) an effective quantity of a chain transfer agent; and (e) an effective quantity of a radical polymerization initiator. The chain transfer agent is a linear alkanethiol, and the radical polymerization initiator is a diazo compound.
