摘要: A virtual reality viewer for use with a mobile electronic device having a touchscreen, the viewer includes: a first lens and a second lens, wherein the first lens is facing the same direction as the second lens, and wherein the first lens and the second lens are spaced apart; an enclosure having a first side and a second side opposite the first side, the first side configured to hold the first lens and the second lens, the second side configured to receive the mobile electronic device; and a touchscreen input constructed of conductive material, wherein the touchscreen input is selectively in physical contact with the touchscreen, wherein the touchscreen input is responsive to a depressible button user input device that is accessible from an exterior of the enclosure and wherein the depressive user button does not rely on capacitance of a human finger to generate a contact action.

摘要: The present invention concerns virtual reality viewers for use with touchscreen enabled mobile devices. The virtual reality viewer comprises: a housing configured to receive a mobile electronic device within an interior of the housing; and an input mechanism that is accessible from an exterior of the housing and that is moveable within the interior between a first position and an extended position, wherein a surface of the input mechanism is configured to contact the touch-screen of the mobile electronic device when in the extended position. The disclosed systems and methods facilitate receiving user inputs on the exterior of the housing and providing the user inputs to the touchscreen within the housing using the electro-mechanical input mechanism. Accordingly, the viewer can be used with a variety of smartphones without requiring magnetic switches or a wireless/cable connection between the input device and the smartphone.

摘要: An augmented reality display system is configured to direct a plurality of parallactically-disparate intra-pupil images into a viewer's eye. The parallactically-disparate intra-pupil images provide different parallax views of a virtual object, and impinge on the pupil from different angles. In the aggregate, the wavefronts of light forming the images approximate a continuous divergent wavefront and provide selectable accommodation cues for the user, depending on the amount of parallax disparity between the intra-pupil images. The amount of parallax disparity is selected using a light source that outputs light for different images from different locations, with spatial differences in the locations of the light output providing differences in the paths that the light takes to the eye, which in turn provide different amounts of parallax disparity. Advantageously, the wavefront divergence, and the accommodation cue provided to the eye of the user, may be varied by appropriate selection of parallax disparity, which may be set by selecting the amount of spatial separation between the locations of light output.

摘要: A stereoscopic endoscope comprises at least one image sensor for sensing a first image and a second image of a pair of stereo images. The first image is sensed based on light passing through a first aperture within the stereoscopic endoscope and the second image is sensed based on light passing through a second aperture within the stereoscopic endoscope. The stereoscope endoscope comprises a liquid crystal layer disposed between two layers of glass comprising a first arrangement of electrodes, such that each of the first aperture and the second aperture is created in the liquid crystal layer using a portion of the first arrangement of electrodes, wherein a spacing between the first aperture and the second aperture, and a polarization state associated with each of the first and second apertures are controlled using corresponding control signals provided through the first arrangement of electrodes.

摘要: A display placed in an optical pathway extending from an entrance pupil of a person's eye to a real-world scene beyond the eye. The display includes at least one 2-D added-image source that is addressable to produce a light pattern corresponding to a virtual object. The source is situated to direct the light pattern toward the person's eye to superimpose the virtual object on an image of the real-world scene as perceived by the eye via the optical pathway. An active-optical element is situated between the eye and the added-image source at a location that is optically conjugate to the entrance pupil and at which the active-optical element forms an intermediate image of the light pattern from the added-image source. The active-optical element has variable optical power and is addressable to change its optical power to produce a corresponding change in perceived distance at which the intermediate image is formed, as an added image to the real-world scene, relative to the eye.

The camera modules are mounted to a bench within the housing. The dual camera module system is configured for mounting above areas such as retail establishments or other materials handling facilities. The housing is formed from one or more sections of plastic or like materials, and includes inlets and outlets that enable air to flow past the camera modules and other components within the housing, and to maintain such components at a desired temperature. Images captured by the imaging devices of the camera module may be utilized for any purpose.

摘要: Eyewear having a stereoscopic display including a lens system, and a push-pull lens set including prisms to produce a binocular overlap of two images that coincides with an accommodation plane. The overlap of two virtual images generated by a respective display as seen by the user's two eyes provides user comfort. The stereoscopic display may have a single accommodation plane, where the binocular overlap of the two virtual images depends on the location of the accommodation plane and the depth of the content formed by disparity in the two images. By providing the content at or near the location where the virtual images are at least substantially overlapped, the user viewing comfort is improved. The binocular overlap is controlled by tilting or steering the virtual images inward, such that the overlap occurs at the accommodation plane.

摘要: Embodiments include a head-worn display including a display panel sized and positioned to produce a field of view to present digital content to an eye of a user, and a processor adapted to present the digital content to the display panel such that the digital content is only presented in a portion of the field of view, the portion being in the middle of the field of view such that horizontally opposing edges of the field of view are blank areas. The processor is adapted to shift the digital content into one of the blank areas to adjust the convergence distance of the digital content and thereby change the perceived distance from the user to the digital content.

Each of the first and second pixels includes a first sub-pixel which emits light having a first color, a second sub-pixel which emits light having a second color different from the first color, a third sub-pixel which emits light having a third color different from the first and second colors, and an infrared sub-pixel which emits infrared light. The infrared light emitted from the infrared sub-pixel in the first pixel and the infrared light emitted from the infrared sub-pixel in the second pixel have different intensities from each other.
