    摘要: An offshore reflection seismic prospection method is provided including a vibratory signal coded in accordance with a pseudo-random code.Correlation of the signals received by the seismic sensors by means of the cycle of the coded signal transmitted allows seismic plots to be obtained similar to what a pulsed source would provide firing at time intervals equal to the duration of the cycle of the coded signal. Correlation with time shifted cycles reduces the distance between plots recorded on the same sensor. The transmissions coming from two or more vibrators, transmitting the same coded signal with shifted cycles, may be separated by correlation with one of the cycles used.

    摘要: An optical proximity sensor for optically detecting an object within a predetermined detection volume. More specifically, an optical proximity sensor is disclosed having an illuminator assembly including an illuminator lens (55) and a plurality of light-emitting diodes (53) located at first predetermined positions along the focal plane (54) of the illuminator lens (55). A detector assembly including a detector lens (65) and a plurality of photodiodes (60) located at second predetermined positions along the focal plane of the detector lens (65) is also provided. The two lenses are spaced apart a predetermined distance in accordance with the configuration of the light-emitting diodes (53) and the photodiodes (60) in order to define a predetermined detection volume. Each light-emitting diode has a corresponding photodiode, and their relative positions on their respective focal planes determine the detection volume defined by their overlapping fields of view. Thus by correctly positioning one light-emitting diode/photodiode pair with respect to each other, all the other pairs will be correctly positioned due to their predetermined locations on their respective focal planes. Additionally, a combination of optical proximity sensors, according to the invention, is disclosed wherein the sensors can be used in conjunction with a vehicle to provide a safety system for warning an operator when an object is within a volume defined by the proximity sensor combination.

    摘要: A range-gated radar system which includes a phase modulator that modulatesn r.f. generator with a signal which may be binary coded. In a preferred embodiment, the binary signal is a periodic signal of 2.sup.N -1 bits per period. Starting at some arbitrary point in the sequence, K contiguous bits are transmitted then M contiguous bits are passed over, then K more bits are transmitted, and so on. The quantities M+K and 2.sup.N -1 have no primary factors in common. The radar system may be a doppler radar system using balanced digital processing which involves separating the upper and lower sideband components of modulation that exist in the return radar signal as a result of the motion of scatterers and subtracting them.

    摘要: A radio range measuring apparatus having a controlled modulation slope in order to keep the beat frequency between the transmitted signal and the received signal constant. The apparatus also measures the speed at which a mobile target approaches or recedes by means of a generator of a fixed frequency which, after frequency division, maintains the duration between the start of two consecutive sawtooth modulation signals fixed. A particular spectral line of the beat signal is demodulated by this fixed frequency via a mixer whose output is filtered by a passband filter. The signal at the output of the filter has a frequency which is equal to the Doppler frequency, proportional to the speed.

    摘要: An automatic shipboard collision avoidance system comprises radar; a situation indicator connected to the radar receiver; a computer, which extracts target echoes from clutter and determines the coordinates and motion parameters of targets; an interface through which the computer is connected to the situation indicator; a target tracking gate unit connected via the interface to the computer and having a count pulse generator, a current range counter, range comparison circuits, a gate generator and a signal-half gate generator; a video signal encoder connected to the radar and, via said interface, to said computer and having a threshold circuit, a quantizer, a selector and a buffer storage. A control signal unit generates control signals to control the gain of the radar and sign characters of the count pulses and is connected through the interface to the computer. Usually, noise would be a problem in rough seas or in the presence of intense hydrometeors. By controlling the gain of the radar, different time distributions and different amplitudes of the unwanted echoes and the target echoes are taken into consideration. Thus, this system can insure increased noise immunity during automatic tracking of targets.

    摘要: A displaced-phase-center antenna technique which compensates accurately forhe motion of an airborne radar system in both the boresight direction of the antenna and in the direction normal to the boresight. An antenna system comprising a broadside array of endfire arrays forms four receive beams which are displaced from each other in both the boresight direction and in the direction normal to the boresight. These four beams are used to produce signals which correspond to signals from two receive beams with phase centers having a separation equal in magnitude and direction to the aircraft's motion during the interpulse period. A signal scattered from a fixed object on a first transmitted pulse and received in one of the two receive beams will have the same phase characteristic as a signal scattered from the same fixed object on a subsequent pulse and received in the other receive beam. Upon proper delay of the first received signal, the returns from the fixed object may be cancelled.
