摘要: A platform embedded in an electrical cable that stores and transmits data or information related to the electrical cable is designed. The embedded platform includes a non-volatile memory element to store product data describing at least one of electrical characteristics and certifications of the electrical cable. The platform also includes a current detector to detect a current that flows in the electrical cable based on a magnetic field generated by the current. The platform further includes a communication circuit to transmit at least one of the stored product data and information related to the detection of the current to a remote device.

摘要: A method of monitoring the electrical power in multiple branch circuits of an AC electrical power distribution system comprises monitoring at least one voltage common to said multiple branch circuits using a main meter unit, monitoring currents of the multiple branch circuits using multiple current cards that receive a plurality of current inputs from current transducers in the multiple branch circuits, sampling the monitored voltage in the main meter unit and the monitored currents in the current cards multiple times in each cycle of the AC power signal, determining the magnitudes and angles of spectral components of the sampled current in the current cards, sending data representing the magnitudes and angles of at least selected spectral components from the current cards to the main meter unit, and storing the voltage samples and the magnitudes and angles of at least the selected spectral components in the main meter unit.

摘要: A beam scanning galvanometer is disclosed which oscillates a mirror in a non-resonant mode. The moving parts of the galvanometer are made with as small a moment of inertia as possible because the mirror is oscillated in a non-resonant mode. The galvanometer uses two sets of crossed leaf-springs to support the mirror instead of bearings which are usually used in non-resonant galvanometers. Each of the sets of leaf-springs is formed of a single strip of cold rolled stainless steel. The springs are embedded in uniquely shaped cavities in a permanent magnet that supports the mirror at a distance very close to an axis of rotation of the mirror. The mirror is specially shaped with beveled edges so that its moment of inertia is low and so that it can oscillate in very close proximity to a driving current coil which surrounds the mirror supporting magnet. A magnetic position sensor is used to detect an angular position of the mirror during operation of the galvanometer. A compensating system eliminates distorting magnetic field effects from a magnetic driving system from adversely influencing the magnetic position sensor. Signals from the magnetic position sensor are usable to provide accurate feedback information to a galvanometer driving system.

摘要: The present invention comprises a method and apparatus for driving and homing a stepper motor. In a preferred embodiment, 24 micro step pulse width modulated (PWM) voltage signals are used to drive the coils of the stepper motor. The phases between the driving signals are 90° out of phase. Thus, a sine/cosine methodology is used to drive the motor. Using micro-programmable pulse width modulation (PWM) levels involves the microprocessor reading stored voltage levels from a table stored in memory which corresponds to the amount of angular displacement desired by the motor. These voltage levels are then applied to the motor's coils. The microprocessor performs these operations by executing software instructions stored in memory. The software can be stored in memory located in the controller or in a separate logic block or logic chip. The magnitude of the bounce of a pointer attached to the output shaft of the motor and the magnitude of the noise generated as the pointer contacts a mechanical stop, are both directly related to the applied voltage and speed or frequency of the homing strategy. To reduce the bounce of the pointer and the generated noise to barely discernable levels, the applied voltage is reduced to between 15% and 30% of the normal driving voltage (approximately 1 volt for a 5 volt system). Additionally, the speed of homing is set to a value below the new start-stop frequency of the motor.
