Energy can be collected and stored, and the barge can be brought to shore when and where needed. This arrangement can be configured for ground-based deployment. The power generation station can be configured for use on dry land.

The present invention is an improved arrangement for a wind turbine system wherein the power generator unit is independently installed at ground level to minimize the vertical compressive load imposed on the poles. The wind turbine system is powered by an integrated air power unit comprising an air pump driving an air motor operationally coupled to the power generator at ground level. A lighter weight air pump replacing the old system generator is operationally coupled to the wind turbine rotor blades disposed atop the pole. A pipe line supplies pressurized air from the air pump to the air motor thereby causing the power generator to rotate.

A fluid power storage device is provided in which, the prime mover directly or through a slow-down gear train winds up a spring device having a latch attached therein. The spring device can be a spiral spring or simply a rubber band. When the stored up energy is great enough, an adjustable stopper automatically releases the spring device being latched. The spring device in turn, releases the stored energy which then activates a mechanism or drives an electric generator. After a certain amount of energy stored up is released, the latch will automatically be caught by the stopper. Hence the mechanism or the electric generator will be stopped and the fluid power storage device starts to store up energy again for the next release of the spring device.

The front portion of the fairing is fitted with air admission means that are movable between an open position in which the turbine is exposed to the stream of air outside the fairing and a closed position in which the turbine is masked inside the fairing. The system may serve to reduce the aerodynamic drag caused by turbulence present at a wing tip for a conventional wing having sharp edges during stages of takeoff, climbing, and cruising; and during stages of descent it makes it possible to recover the kinetic and potential energy that has been accumulated by the aircraft during its stages of climbing and cruising.
