    摘要: A power control interface between an unstable power source such as a wind farm and a power transmission line employs an electrical energy storage, control system, and electronic compensation module which act together like an nullelectronic shock absorbernull for storing excess power during periods of increased power generation and releasing stored energy during periods of decreased power generation due to wind fluctuations. The control system is provided with a nulllook aheadnull capability for predicting power output (wind speed conditions) and maintaining energy storage or release over a nullnarrow-bandnull range despite short duration fluctuations. The control system uses data derived from monitoring the wind farm power output and the power transmission line, and employs system-modeling algorithms to predict narrow-band wind speed conditions. The power control interface can also use its energy storage capacity to provide voltage support at the point of injection into the power transmission system, as well as fault clearance capability for nullriding outnull transient fault conditions occurring on the power transmission line.

    摘要: An advanced aerodynamic control system for a wind turbine including a drive shaft and blade. The control system includes an air control system coupled to a duct that extends from a first end toward a second end of the blade. A slot extends along a portion of a surface of the blade and is in communication with the duct. An instrument measures operating data of the wind turbine. A controller collects the operating data and compares the operating data to predetermined operating norms. The controller actuates the air control system to urge pressurized air into the duct and out of the slot at a specific air flow rate based upon the comparison between the operating data and predetermined operating norms. Control of the flow rate aids in capture of power from the wind flowing through a swept area of the wind turbine.

    摘要: A wind power system includes a rotary drive, used in conjunction with a mechanical and self-energizing coupling system. The rotary drive can be used as a wind power system in all areas. The electromagnetic coupling system can be used in all industrial areas, in all areas and types of vehicle technology, and in all electrical engineering areas. The combination of a wind power system with a rotary drive with mechanical and self-energizing coupling system indicates that the wind force can be utilized more effectively than in the case of conventional wind-driven rotors, irrespective of the physical size. This is achieved by virtue of the blade arrangement and the special design of the housing. The self-energizing coupling system furthermore has the physical advantage that the magnet is combined in one space with the iron core and, on the other hand, a short-circuited coil is energized. The current for the electromagnetic coupling may also be taken directly from the generator stage.

    摘要: An approach to wind farm design using variable speed wind turbines with low pulse number electrical output. The output of multiple wind turbines are aggregated to create a high pulse number electrical output at a point of common coupling with a utility grid network. Power quality at each individual wind turbine falls short of utility standards, but the aggregated output at the point of common coupling is within acceptable tolerances for utility power quality. The approach for aggregating low pulse number electrical output from multiple wind turbines relies upon a pad mounted transformer at each wind turbine that performs phase multiplication on the output of each wind turbine. Phase multiplication converts a modified square wave from the wind turbine into a 6 pulse output. Phase shifting of the 6 pulse output from each wind turbine allows the aggregated output of multiple wind turbines to be a 24 pulse approximation of a sine wave. Additional filtering and VAR control is embedded within the wind farm to take advantage of the wind farm's electrical impedence characteristics to further enhance power quality at the point of common coupling.
