The mobile canopy having vertical supports connected to a frame that supports a shield. The mobile canopy allows for face production activities and ground support activities to occur simultaneously or near simultaneously. This allows for more rapid advancement of the tunnel face compared to traditional batch drill and blast techniques.

    摘要: A mine roof support system includes a plurality of truss members each having first and second ends which are positioned in spaced relationships one behind another. There are vertically extensible props under each end of the truss member which include stabilizer sleeves to stabiize the truss members thereabove. The vertically extensible props can be extended and retracted to adjust a vertical height of the props for supporting the truss member and for moving it into and out of engagement with the mine roof. Each of the props is supported by a ground engaging means in the form of a selectively operable propulsion unit capable of being operated to produce horizontal movement of the respective props and ends of the truss members. Connecting elements beneath the ends of the truss members connect the props in tandem relationship to permit the horizontal movement of truss members and associated props relative to each other by the propulsion units. Each of the truss members is horizontally expandable to facilitate transportion through a mine passageway prior to being positioned for movement into and out of engagement with the mine roof. The truss member can include a major portion which is fabricated of reinforced fiberglass to permit deflection without permanent deformation when supporting the mine roof to provide a warning prior to any failure of the truss member under the weight of the mine roof.

    摘要: A travelling mining appliance, particularly a travelling drilling and/or bolting appliance, having a protective roof. The appliance comprises a driving station used for controlling the movement of the appliance on the ground and a separate operating station, located on the side of the appliance, for controlling the drilling and/or bolting device. According to the invention, the roof is mounted to pivot on the appliance about a vertical axis. It is thus able to move in an angular manner between a first position in which it is located above and protects the driving station, without projecting beyond the width of the appliance and a second position in which projects beyond the side of the appliance and is located above the operating station thus protecting the operator who is standing opposite this station.

A drive mechanism rotates the rearward shield part as further tunnel segments are laid one by one in the shield end against the previous segment to be erected. Rams advance the shield as the rearward end rotates to allow a newly erected segment to engage the tunnel wall.

    摘要: A mine tunnel support system of the type comprising spaced interconnected support sections is described. The support system is advanced along the tunnel in the forward direction in which mining is proceeding. Bolting machines may be carried on the support sections. A drill may be provided on one section and a bolt inserter provided on a section rearwardly thereof. As the system is advanced, the bolt inserter can insert a bolt into a hole previously formed by the drill. The operation of providing roof bolts is therefore split into a number of stages. A mechanism for erecting and/or pre-stressing permanent arch supports may be provided at the rear of the sections.

    摘要: A tunneling shield for shielding the area of a tunnel between first and second tunnel machine assemblies which are longitudinally, relative to the axis of the tunnel, movable relative to each other comprising a plurality of extendable and retractable support beams, the longitudinal axes of which are substantially parallel with the axis of the tunnel. The support beams may be disposed near the wall of the tunnel at circumferentially spaced intervals from each other an connected at each end to a first and second tunnel machine assembly by flexible joints. Each of the support beams may comprise first and second telescopically engagable members to effect extension and retraction of the support beams in response to relative movement between the first and second machine assemblies.
