    Abstract: A storm shelter escape door assembly includes a frame and a door hinged to the frame. The frame includes three inner sidewalls, an open end, and a horizontal attachment plate extending outwardly from upper edges of the inner sidewalls. The door has at least three outer sidewalls joined by a door face. The door is hinged to the frame adjacent the open end and below the horizontal attachment plate so the door is openable in an inward direction away from the horizontal attachment plate. When the door is in a closed position, the door face angles downwardly toward the open end to cause water to run off the door.

    Abstract: A window system is disclosed. The window system provides improved visibility while protecting against wind and flying debris. In some embodiments, the window panel is made using insulated safety glass for added insulation from the elements and impact protection for wind borne debris. Fins (e.g., glass fins) are affixed to a vertical edge of each window panel to provide extra resistance to wind and flying debris while providing improved visibility over window systems that have metal frames. In some embodiments, the glass fins are made from laminated glass to achieve thicknesses of between two and three inches. In some embodiments, especially when the window panel is very tall, one or more horizontal fins are affixed to the inside surface of the glass for added strength.

    Abstract: An entryway door is capable of withstanding direct hit hurricane loads and subsequent water surge for long periods. A door slab is formed of reaction-injected-molded aliphatic polyurethane having an outward face, and inward face, and a peripheral edge, with a window opening formed therethrough. A ballistic glass-clad polycarbonate laminate window is provided which sized larger than the window opening. The laminate window having a central light transmissive region and an outer boarder region. A primer border is applied to the outer boarder region of outward and inward faces of the laminate window. The door slab is reaction-injected-molded about the laminate window with the outer boarder region extending into and is bonded to a portion of the door slab forming the window opening. The preferred door in mounted to a structure in an outwardly opening manor with a seal entrapped between the periphery of the door and a door jam.

    Abstract: The application describes a frame assembly comprising: a first inner frame section adapted to be fitted to a first peripheral portion of a first surface of sheet material, the first peripheral portion is adjacent a peripheral edge; a second, separate inner frame section adapted to be fitted to a second peripheral portion of a second surface of sheet material, the second peripheral portion is adjacent a peripheral edge, and the second surface is opposite the first surface; and an outer frame section for receiving the sheet material with the inner frame sections fitted thereto, the outer frame section comprising first and second projections. The first frame section defines a space adapted to receive the first projection of the outer frame section, the space of the first inner frame section cooperates with the received first projection to restrict movement of the first inner frame section relative to the outer frame section.
