摘要： A traffic control device, for use with a roadway receiving vehicles travelling longitudinally along the roadway, includes a housing mounted transversely across the roadway with an upper supporting surface that supports the vehicles rolling over the housing. A tire puncturing frame comprised of a shaft supporting tire puncturing members thereon is rotatable within the housing between stored and working positions of the tire puncturing members relative to the upper supporting surface of the housing. Offset counterweights are coupled to the frame to bias the tire puncture members towards the working position. A latch bolt threaded into a threaded aperture in the housing selectively retains the tire puncturing frame in the stored position.

摘要： A vehicle barrier system and method that prevents “tailgating”. The system may include a control system in communication with a sensor system for detecting a vehicle seeking passage through a gateway, as well as a first and second gate system. The control system receives data from the sensor system indicating the presence of the vehicle and, in response, determines whether the second gate system is closed. When the second gate is determined to be closed, the control system opens the first gate system to allow the vehicle to pass the first gate system and attempts to close the first gate system behind the vehicle after the vehicle passes the first gate system. In response to successfully closing the first gate system behind the vehicle, the second gate system is opened to allow the vehicle to proceed through the gateway. Otherwise, an alarm is sounded.

摘要： A processor-implemented method and/or computer program product selectively blocks a self-driving vehicle's access to a roadway. A vehicle interrogation hardware device receives an autonomous capability signal from an approaching self-driving vehicle. One or more processors compare the predefined roadway conditions to current roadway conditions of the access-controlled roadway. In response to the predefined roadway conditions matching the current roadway conditions of the access-controlled roadway within a predetermined range, the processor(s) determine whether the level of autonomous capability of the approaching self-driving vehicle is adequate to safely maneuver the approaching self-driving vehicle through the current roadway conditions of the access-controlled roadway. In response determining that the level of autonomous capability of the self-driving vehicle is not adequate to safely maneuver the approaching self-driving vehicle through the current roadway conditions of the access-controlled roadway, an automatic barricade controlling device positions an automatic barricade to block the approaching self-driving vehicle from accessing the access-controlled roadway.

摘要： A traffic barrier comprises a step-like obstruction able to resist or prohibit the advance of a vehicle, a hinged platform disposed in advance of the step-like obstruction and rockable between a lowered position and a raised position, in which its trailing edge is adjacent the top of the step-like obstruction, spring means urging the platform into its raised position, latch means operable to lock the platform in its raised position to permit a vehicle to advance over the step-like obstruction, and control means including a coin-operated device or the like, for controlling the operation of the latch means.In one embodiment, the latch means is normally in its released condition, and is actuated to lock the platform in its raised position when the prescribed parking fee is inserted into coin-operated device. The control means is responsive to advance of the rearmost wheels of the vehicle on to the top of the step-like obstruction to release the latch means and prevent advance of a following vehicle until the coin-operated device is tripped by the driver of the following vehicle.In another embodiment, the latch means is normally retained in its latched condition, and the control means is responsive to the front wheels of a vehicle approaching the platform to release the latch means if the driver of that vehicle does not insert the prescribed parking fee in the coin-operated device.

摘要： A one-way security gate is disclosed which includes a plurality of rotatable rods which are suspended from a horizontally mounted shaft. These rods hang vertically and are free to rotate about the shaft in a limited arc. This limited arc is oriented so that the individual rods can be rotated upward on one side of the shaft only. Accordingly, the rods rotate to allow objects to pass under the shaft in one direction only. In the preferred embodiment of this gate each rod is mounted both to rotate about the shaft and to hinge in a direction transverse to the plane of rotation. These hinges allow the rods to be pushed out of the vertical plane and thereby prevent trapezoidally-shaped objects such as grocery carts from wedging between a pair of rods.

THE OTHER, NORMALLY ELEVATED LONGITUDINAL EDGE OF THE PAN IS PROVIDED WITH A DOWNWARDLY TURNED FLANGE WHICH IS CLEARLY VISIBLE TO TRAFFIC APPROACHING FROM THE WRONG DIRECTION, AND GIVES THE APPARATUS OF A CURB.
