    摘要: A fibrous structure is disclosed. The fibrous structure exhibits a plurality of discrete knuckles arranged in a pattern of repeat units. The repeat units can include a plurality of rows arranged orthogonally in an X-Y plane, each row having a portion of the discrete knuckles, and each discrete knuckle separated from adjacent discrete knuckles in a row by a distance. Each of the discrete knuckles within the repeat unit can have substantially the same shape and size; and wherein the distance between at least two adjacent discrete knuckles in each row are non-uniform such that the repeat unit exhibits varying pillow width distances along the rows in both the X and Y axes.

    摘要: A liquid absorbing pad, in particular for use in hygiene articles and sanitary products, such as diapers, bed pads, sanitary napkins, pads for incontinence, panty shields, nursing pads or the like, is produced in a dry and direct process on the basis of wet-strength and/or coated paper waste, especially originating from the production of food packages, milk carton packages, deep-freeze packages, disposable tableware and the like. The waste is cut and defibrated, and during the defibration or just before it a maximum of 25% by volume, based on the volume of the paper waste, of a mixture of water and a surfactant is added to reestablish the absorption capacity of the fibres. Starting materials otherwise difficult to process can thus be used in a dry and direct process.

    摘要: Method of producing fiberboard products according to the so-called dry method from lignocellulosic fiber material in which the fiber material discharged from a defibrating apparatus in an environment of steam is propelled in a stream of heated air to remove substantially all moisture therefrom. The thus dried fibers are deposited on an underlying moving perforated screen to form a mat in which the fibers are oriented at random while propellant air is evacuated therefrom. The thus formed mat is wetted by adding water thereto while it is being advanced by the screen into a hot press where the wetted fibers are compressed and bonded in their random orientation, with consequent removal of water. The amount of water added in the wetting step is proportioned to be effective in itself to bond the fibers without use of extraneous bonding or adhesive substance.

The sheets are prepared from modified cellulosic fibers such as cross-linked carboxymethyl cellulose or essentially acidic sodium carboxymethyl cellulose. Mixtures of modified fibers with unmodified fibers are also disclosed. The process of preparing the sheets comprises the steps of airlaying the fibers to form an airfelt, increasing the moisture content of the airfelt, and compacting the moisturized airfelt.
