Abstract: The invention relates to a quilting machine for fabrics, including at least three pairs of drive rollers between which the fabric can pass, one pair of rollers being the master pair and the other pairs of rollers being the slave pairs, generating a sewing area and a post-sewing area. Each pair of rollers consists of two opposing rollers associated with a set of chains and sprockets allowing the rollers to rotate in opposite directions to one another. The machine also includes pneumatic cylinders, associated with the pairs of drive rollers, for varying the distance between paired rollers, stabiliser bars for maintaining paired rollers parallel to one another, a sewing head, and a controller for controlling all of the pairs of drive rollers and the sewing head independently, exerting tension on the fabric in the sewing and post-sewing areas.

Abstract: Presented are automated manufacturing systems for fabricating engineered textiles, footwear and apparel formed with such engineered textiles, methods for making such engineered textiles, and memory-stored, processor-executable instructions for operating such manufacturing systems. An automated manufacturing system constructs engineered textiles from workpieces composed of superposed, unwoven wires. The system includes a movable end effector bearing a stitching head and an image capture device. The stitching head has a thread feeder and sewing needle to generate stitches. The image capture device captures images of the workpiece and outputs data indicative thereof. A system controller receives this image capture device data and locates, from the captured image of the workpiece, gaps defined between quadrangles of the superposed wires. The controller commands the end effector to sequentially move the stitching head and thereby align the sewing needle with the gaps, and commands the stitching head to insert a succession of stitches within these gaps.

Abstract: Disclosed are various systems and features for use with a machine, such as a sewing machine, to facilitate tacking operations that may aid in the securing of objects to substrates prior to subsequent operations. Such systems and features may be useful in the context of performing an action along a self-guided path on a substrate.

Abstract: Presented are a method, apparatus, and computer-readable medium for stitching. The method includes sensing, by a first sensor, a movement of a work piece relative to a sewing head. The method further includes sensing, by a second sensor, a movement of the work piece relative to the sewing head. The method includes determining, by a processor, a translational and rotational movement of the work piece relative to the sewing head based on the sensed movement of the first sensor and the second sensor. The method also includes altering, by the processor, a speed of a reciprocating needle in response to the determined translational and rotational movement.

Abstract: A sewing machine includes a sewing portion, a movement portion, a processor and a memory. The memory is configured to store computer-readable instructions that, when executed by the processor, instruct the processor to perform processes. The processes include acquiring pattern data indicating positions of a plurality of needle drop points to sew a pattern, acquiring a position of a sewing start point of the pattern, performing first correction, performing second correction that uses the acquired position of the sewing start point as a base point, and corrects the pattern data, by changing, by an acquired change amount, the positions of the plurality of needle drop points represented by the pattern data corrected by the first correction, and controlling the sewing portion and the movement portion and sewing the pattern on the sewing object, in accordance with the pattern data corrected by the second correction.
