Abstract: A method for manufacturing a play-of-color article includes the steps of: (a) providing a first mixture that contains a solvent and a plurality of functionalized colloidal particles; (b) replacing the solvent of the first mixture with a polymer solution that contains polymers, thereby obtaining a second mixture; (c) adding an initiator to the second mixture to obtain a third mixture, followed by injecting the third mixture into a mold and disturbing the third mixture, so that the third mixture is formed with a pattern; (d) leaving the third mixture to stand, so as to allow the functionalized colloidal particles therein to self-assemble to form a crystalline arrangement, thereby obtaining a fourth mixture; and (e) subjecting the polymers in the fourth mixture to a cross-linking reaction, thereby obtaining the play-of-color article. A play-of-color article manufactured by the method, and a play-of-color product including the play-of-color article are also provided.

Abstract: In an aspect, a method of making a composition, comprising forming a solvent mixture comprising a polymer and a solvent; precipitating the solvent mixture with a non-solvent to form the composition comprising the filler in a fibrillated polymer matrix, wherein the composition is in the form of a particulate and at least one of the solvent and the non-solvent comprises a filler; and separating the composition from the solvent and the non-solvent to isolate the composition. In another aspect, a porous material wherein the filler particles are mechanically bonded together by the polymer and wherein the polymer is present as filaments adhering to and connecting the filler particles across interstitial spaces between the filler particles. In another aspect, a precipitated polymer solution produced by a phase inversion where the majority of the liquids can be mechanically removed.

Abstract: A functional layer for a moisture electric generating battery cell wherein the functional layer includes graphene oxide having a ratio of C═O bonds to C—C bonds of more than 1:9. The functional layer include treated graphene oxide having an interlayer spacing that is greater than the interlayer spacing of graphene oxide from which the treated graphene oxide is prepared. The functional layer consists of graphene oxide and a polymer binder that is selected to bond with an electrically conductive substrate. The polymer binder may be one or more of: PVA, PVB, PMMA or PVP. The graphene oxide and polymer binder are treated with acid such as HCl, H2SO4 or HNO3. The electrically conductive substrate forming an electrode may be mounted onto a further substrate, for use as a moist-electric generation (MEG) in an electronic device. The electronic device is configured to have a surface positioned in contact with the skin of a subject when in use.

Abstract: A method for producing a rubber wet masterbatch includes mixing a rubber latex solution and a coagulant with a carbon black-containing slurry aqueous solution in which a carbon black is dispersed in water, to produce a carbon black-containing rubber latex aqueous solution having a pH of 7 to 8.5; adding additional coagulant to the carbon black-containing rubber latex aqueous solution obtained to produce a carbon black-containing rubber coagulum; and dehydrating and drying the carbon black-containing rubber coagulum obtained to produce a rubber wet masterbatch, wherein a rubber component contained in the rubber latex solution is added at an addition rate of 10 g/min or more and 100 g/min or less and the part of the coagulant is added at an addition rate of 10 mmol/min or more and 100 mmol/min or less per 100 g of the carbon black contained in the carbon black-containing slurry aqueous solution.
