摘要: The present invention relates to a propellant in liquid or gel form, in particular for rocket engines, comprising: —an inorganic salt as the oxidising agent, wherein the inorganic salt has an oxygen content of at least 60 weight %; and —a solvent as the fuel, comprising a monovalent or divalent alcohol, a nitroalkane and/or an ionic liquid in which nitrate is the anion, wherein the solvent has an oxygen content of from 30 to 55 weight %, wherein the inorganic salt is dissolved in the solvent.

摘要: Proposed is an emulsion explosive composition containing 80% to 95% by weight of an oxidizing agent aqueous solution containing hydrogen peroxide, nitrate, and diethylene triamine penta(methylene phosphonic acid) (DTPMPA), 0.1% to 10% by weight of an emulsifier, and 2% to 15% by weight of an oil. The emulsion explosive composition can effectively solve self-gassing problems caused by a reaction between hydrogen peroxide and nitrate.

摘要: The present invention is a red-light-emitting composition based upon a potassium periodate oxidizer formulation, which is useful as the illuminant in the US military's M662 40 mm red star parachute projectile, and which composition is composed of readily commercially available ingredients—ingredients that are environmentally friendly. Further, the subject inventive potassium periodate formulation provides significant enhanced illumination and safety versus the current military M662 illuminant which is based upon potassium perchlorate oxidizer formulation.

摘要: The present invention relates generally to an explosive composition comprising an aqueous emulsion of: an oxidizer component, a hydrocarbon fuel component containing emulsifier, and a bulking agent being a fuel-type waste material in a solid particulate form substantially lacking rough surfaces and sharp edges. Preferably the composition is of an ammonium nitrate based emulsion and a pelletised bulking agent. It also involves a method of providing an explosive composition to a blast site using a conventional mobile processing unit (MPU), being a truck having separate compartments adapted for holding fuel oil, dry ammonium nitrate prill, and ammonium nitrate based emulsion, where a compartment instead holds particulate waste material. It also concerns a method of blasting soft and wet ground, which comprises injecting into one or more blast holes in the soft and wet ground a sufficient quantity of the composition, and then setting off the composition.

摘要: Gas-generating compositions and methods for their use are provided. Metal complexes are used as gas-generating compositions. These complexes are comprised of a metal cation template, a neutral ligand containing hydrogen and nitrogen, and sufficient oxidizing anion to balance the charge of the complex. The complexes are formulated such that when the complex combusts, nitrogen gas and water vapor is produced. Specific examples of such complexes include metal nitrite amine, metal nitrate amine, and metal perchlorate amine complexes, as well as hydrazine complexes. A binder and co-oxidizer can be combined with the metal complexes to improve crush strength of the gas-generating compositions and to permit efficient combustion of the binder. Such gas-generating compositions are adaptable for use in gas-generating devices, such as automobile air bags.

摘要: A water-in-oil emulsion explosive characterized by containing an ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer. It has excellent long-term stability. Even when stored under a load for as long as about one year, the explosive is less apt to suffer a decrease in explosive performance and coagulates only slightly in such a degree that it comes to have weakly coherent partial coagulates which can be easily disaggregated. Even after long-term storage, charging with the explosive can be easily conducted with a charger. Since the explosive has excellent water resistance, it is suitable also for blasting in a water hole.

摘要: A single increment initiator charge for use in an inflatable restraint system and a method of preparing the single increment initiator charge are provided. The single increment initiator charge includes a homogeneous blend of zirconium, an oxidizer such as potassium perchlorate, and a combustion enhancer such as titanium hydride in an amount effective to result in the single increment initiator charge being effective to ignite an associated pyrotechnic charge. The single increment initiator charge may be formed by preparing a homogeneous blend such as by dry-blending the constituents or by mixing the constituents with a solvent such as an alcohol to form a slurry, loading the homogeneous blend into a charge holder and compressing the homogeneous blend.
