    摘要: Metallurgical slag is expanded to produce a lightweight solid by forming a stream of molten liquid slag of controlled rate of flow and mixing the stream of slag with a controlled quantity of water and flowing the interacting mixture of slag and water into a receptacle. The interaction between slag and water is allowed to proceed for a predetermined period of time to form an expanded solid without the addition of any additional cooling water which would otherwise quench the material and vitrify it. In the receptacle, a vaned rotor operates to segment the interacting mixture of slag and water and project the segmented mixture through the air for collection into a heap.

    摘要: Molten blast furnace slag is quenched by a volume of water divided into two streams. The first stream is directed downwardly against the slag while the second stream is directed horizontally against the slag. The molten slag is broken down into relatively fine sand-like granules which are kept submerged in the water. The vapors formed during granulation are substantially free of detectable SO.sub.2 and the H.sub.2 S formed and vented to the atmosphere is insufficient to be a detriment to the surrounding environment.

    摘要: Disclosed herein is a method for stabilizing slag, which is an oxide byproduct generated after completion of refining in a converter process for converting molten iron into molten steel via de-carbonization or in an electric arc furnace process for producing molten steel via melting of scrap iron, during iron/steel making processes, and a novel material produced thereby. More particularly, disclosed is a method for stabilizing and recycling slag, wherein converter slag or electric arc furnace slag, which is difficult to recycle because of free lime (i.e. free calcium oxide (CaO) referring to single-phase CaO) remaining therein after cooling, is subjected to appropriate treatments after completion of converter blowing, thereby restricting generation of free lime, and consequently, minimizing differentiation/expansion, environmental pollution and instability of slag. The method for stabilizing slag includes allowing molten slag to fall, injecting high-pressure gas to falling molten slag to separate the molten slag into fine droplets, and quenching the fine droplets with the injected gas and surrounding atmosphere.

    摘要: A method is disclosed for water-granulating calcium ferrite slag which is produced in copper converting processing and contains 10 to 30 weight % of CaO. In the method, water is caused to flow at a flow velocity of 7 to 25 m/sec, and the calcium ferrite slag is introduced into the water flow such that weight ratio of water to slag amounts to no less than 100. With this method, the occurrence of phreatic explosions can be effectively avoided.

    摘要: An apparatus for manufacturing a rapidly cooled solidified slag, which comprises: a pair of cooling drums, the peripheral surfaces of said pair of cooling drums being in contact with each other and rotating in directions opposite to each other at the same peripheral speed; a pair of weirs provided at the both ends of said pair of cooling drums so as to be in contact with the both ends of said pair of cooling drums, said pair of weirs forming a slag sump in cooperation with the upper half of the peripheral surface of each of said pair of cooling drums, and a molten slag being poured into said slag sump; a pair of gas nozzles provided adjacent the peripheral surface of each of said pair of cooling drums, said pair of gas nozzles uniformly ejecting a gas onto the molten slag, which has been deposited on the surface of said pair of cooling drums in said slag sump, to blow part of said molten slag back into said slag sump, thereby uniformly reducing the thickness of said molten slag deposited on the peripheral surface of said pair of cooling drums; a cooling medium for cooling said pair of cooling drums, said cooling medium being supplied to each of said pair of cooling drums, and exchanging heat with said molten slag deposited on the peripheral surfaces of said pair of cooling drums, whereby said molten slag becomes a rapidly cooled solidified slag through heat exchange with said cooling medium, and is peeled off from the peripheral surfaces of said pair of cooling drums by means of a scraper.
