摘要: One embodiment of a caster-camber plate assembly as disclosed herein includes a base plate, a main plate and a strut top mounting plate. The base plate includes four spaced apart main plate fastening members attached thereto. The main plate includes four spaced apart strut top mounting plate fastening members attached thereto. The main plate has the main plate fastening members extending therethrough for attaching the base plate adjacent to a first side of the main plate and is capable of being moved with respect to the base plate along a first translation axis. The strut top mounting plate is positioned adjacent to the main plate with the four strut top mounting plate fastening members extending therethrough. The strut top mounting plate is capable of being moved with respect to the main plate along a second translation axis. The second translation axis extends approximately perpendicular to the first translation axis. A central axis of the strut top mounting plate is positioned within an area defined between the main plate fastening members and within an area defined between said strut top mounting plate fastening members.

摘要: A device for adjusting the position of suspension control arm and, consequently, wheel caster is provided. The device includes a fastener that couples a suspension control arm between a pair of support members in a vehicle frame. Shim packs are supported on the fastener on either side of the control arm between the control arm and the frame support members. The shim packs include shims having open-ended slots for easy addition or removal. Each shim pack may further include a pair of ring shaped members disposed about the fastener, and coupled to the shims of its respective shim pack. The shims are held together using a coupling element such as a cotter pin, however, to prevent the shims from becoming dislodged. The position of the control arm may be adjusted by swapping shims between the first and second shim packs.

摘要: A steering device for an industrial vehicle such as forklift. A pair of knuckle arms are rotatably supported at the ends of a rear axle. Each knuckle arm supports a rear wheel. A cylinder located in the rear axle includes an actuator rod. A pair of tie-rods couple the ends of the actuator rod to the knuckle arms. A toe angle adjusting mechanism is located between one end of the actuator rod and the corresponding tie-rod. The toe angle adjusting mechanism includes an adjuster pin having an eccentric shaft. The toe angle of the rear wheel that does not have the toe angle adjusting mechanism is adjusted by changing the neutral position of the actuator rod relative to the cylinder. Thereafter, the toe angle of the other rear wheel is adjusted by the toe angle adjusting mechanism, which facilitates adjustment of the toe angle of the wheels. The location and number of angle adjusting mechanisms are varied in alternate embodiments.

摘要: An improved steering assembly incorporates an adjustably mounted lower boss in a steering knuckle. The lower boss can be positioned at any of a variety of locations relative to a rotational axis of the wheel mounted on the knuckle. This allows adjustment of the distance between an I-beam spring pad and the rotational axis for the wheel hub. In this way, the present invention eliminates the necessity to have a number of different I-beam configurations. Preferably, the lower boss is bolted to a flange on the steering knuckle. Further, the upper boss may also be removably mounted to the steering knuckle such that the distance between a steering arm connection and the spring pad may also be adjusted.

摘要: A wheel alignment adjuster for a motor vehicle suspension of a twin-flange strut-type comprises an elongate plate having a transverse slot. A bolt passes through aligned upper holes in the flanges of the suspension strut and the bolt engages through the transverse slot in the plate. The bolt has a non-circular cross-section with a cam washer having an aperture corresponding in shape and size to the cross section of the bolt but having a circular periphery, the aperture in the cam washer being offset from its center; the periphery of the cam washer is restrained between side flanges extending from the front face of the plate. The adjustor is installed by: removal of one of the bolts which normally fixes the vehicle hub mounting arm to the twin flanges, boring out substantially the bolt holes in the flanges, installing the adjuster bolt through the enlarged holes with protrusions from the rear of the plate engaging in upper and lower portions of the enlarged hole to locate the transverse slot centered on the hole, rotating the bolt head to displace the bolt along the slot to the preferred position to set the wheel camber, and applying a securing nut to the free end of the bolt to clamp the suspension in the selected position.

The system primarily includes a substantially U-shaped bracket member selectively fastened to a lower control arm member with a cam bolt, wherein when the cam bolt is moved in a first direction, the lower control arm member moves to a first position, and when the cam bolt is moved in a second direction, the lower control arm member moves to a second position. In this manner, the lower control arm member can be moved inboard/outboard with respect to the automobile body.

摘要: An alignment adjuster for wheel alignment of a motor vehicle is provided. The alignment adjuster includes a shaft that is moveable within an elongated slot. The adjustable member in the preferred embodiment is a lower control arm and is attached via bushing to the shaft. The shaft includes a pinion gear that operatively contacts a rack element that is disposed near the elongated slot. Rotation of the shaft will initiate lateral movement of the shaft in the elongated slot.

摘要: A system is provided for use on a vehicle (10) which allows the relative angle of turn between a first steerable wheel (20) and a second steerable wheel (22) to be established by use of a tie rod assembly (32) which is variable in length. The tie rod assembly (32) includes a hydraulic cylinder assembly to vary the length by introducing or removing pressurized hydraulic fluid. A spring (120) is provided to establish a predetermined length to the tie rod assembly should the hydraulic system fail. The length of the tie rod assembly is controlled by an electronic control (166) which is provided with data from angle sensors (160,162) at each of these steerable wheels. The electronic control can be provided with an electronic table of relative angles for the wheel members and can adjust the length of the tie rod appropriately. The device allows for establishing the desired relationship between the wheel members at any turn angle. Further, the system can provide continuously accurate Ackerman steering angles between the wheels for all conditions of vehicle operation, including vehicle wheel base, vehicle track, axle weight and vehicle speed.
