    Abstract: A tire damage detection method includes a preliminary stage comprising: performing tests involving test tire impacts against/on different obstacles at different motor vehicle speeds; measuring/acquiring test-related wheel speeds during the performed tests; computing test-related normalized wheel speeds based on the test-related wheel speeds; and determining a predefined tire damage model based on the test-related normalized wheel speeds corresponding to the test tire impacts and of associated test-related average wheel speeds. A tire damage detection stage comprises: acquiring signals indicative of a motor vehicle wheel speed; computing, based on quantities indicative of the wheel speed, a normalized wheel speed indicative of a ratio of the wheel speed to an average wheel speed indicative of motor vehicle speed; and detecting potential damage to a tire of the wheel based on the predefined tire damage model and on the normalized wheel speed.

    Abstract: A non-pneumatic tire includes a generally annular inner ring that attaches to a wheel, a generally annular outer ring, and an interconnected web between the generally annular inner ring and the generally annular outer ring. The interconnected web defines a plurality of openings circumferentially spaced around the tire and radially spaced at varying distances from an axis of rotation, so as to support a load by working in tension. The interconnected web includes a plurality of web elements having a varying thickness, including a first plurality of web elements above the axis of rotation and a second plurality of web elements below the axis of rotation. The varying thickness is configured to facilitate buckling of the interconnected web. When a load is applied, the first plurality of web elements are subjected to a tensile force while the second plurality of web elements buckle.

    Abstract: This present invention relates to a system and method using a computer implemented wheel fit application for calculating/determining and displaying aftermarket wheel size and tire size for automobiles and vehicles. The computer implemented application is compatible with any smart device, including smart phones, laptops, multiple computer operating systems, and tablets. The application displays drop-down menus for a vehicle's year, make, model, and trim enabling a user to select a vehicle and as a result displays appropriate or compatible aftermarket wheel and tire sizes. The application allows users to purchase correct (i.e. compatible) sized tires and wheels and obviates returning and exchanging of incompatible sized tires and wheels.

    Abstract: A processing device divides an initial tread pattern into multiple mutually adjacent partial patterns, each having a width smaller than that of the initial tread pattern, by at least one straight line along a circumferential direction of a tire. The processing device calculates variation amounts of characteristic values of the partial patterns with respect to the circumferential direction, based on a contact region, each of the characteristic values indicating a shape of a corresponding partial pattern. The processing device modifies the shapes of the partial patterns so as to reduce the variation amounts of the characteristic values of the partial patterns. The processing device relatively moves the partial patterns along the circumferential direction so as to reduce a total variation amount of characteristic values of at least two mutually adjacent partial patterns. The processing device combines the partial patterns with each other to generate a tread pattern of the tire.

    Abstract: Disclosed is an automobile tire burst simulation experiment device, which is fixed on a rim installed with an automobile tire. The automobile tire burst simulation experiment device comprises a pre-tightening triggering device, a retracting device, a storage battery and a controller, the tire burst simulation experiment device according to the present invention uses two drive motors to drive two sets of roller screw slide rails, so as to drive the breakdown device away from and close to the tire to achieve a simulated tire burst and rapid deflation. The experiment device has the characteristics of quick installation, low cost, strong versatility, and adjustable speed; the device can be applied to the tire burst experiment under different vehicle speeds and road conditions of various automobile models. The structure is simple and the simulation control accuracy is high. After the tire burst, the subsequent experiments of the vehicle are not affected.
