Abstract: In some embodiments, a stamp with metallic elements, may comprise at least one stamping component and one stamping insert. The stamping component may be formed of a top part with a handle element and a bottom part with a cushion-receiving element. The stamping insert may be connected so as to move synchronously via a reversing mechanism having a slide track in the bottom part via a shaft or trunnion to the top part. In the resting position a text plate mounted on the stamping insert may abut against an ink pad soaked with ink in the cushion-receiving element. The metallic elements can be attached from the outside onto the top and bottom parts formed from plastic material and these are fixed via a fastening system of the upper and lower parts. The metal part of the bottom part is fixed on a surface of the plastic part.

Abstract: A method is provided for extending the frequency band of an audio signal during a decoding or improvement process. The method includes obtaining the decoded signal in a first frequency band, referred to as a low band. Tonal components and a surround signal are extracted from the signal from the low-band signal, and the tonal components and the surround signal are combined by adaptive mixing using energy-level control factors to obtain an audio signal, referred to as a combined signal. The low-band decoded signal before the extraction step or the combined signal after the combination step are extended over at least one second frequency band which is higher than the first frequency band. Also proved are a frequency-band extension device which implements the described method and a decoder including a device of this type.

Abstract: An ink pad device for a high speed mailing machine is disclosed. The ink pad device includes an ink pad and an ink chamber in which the ink pad is at least partially disposed to sorb ink therefrom. The ink pad device may also comprise an ink reservoir and/or a pump for pumping ink from the reservoir to the ink chamber. The ink pad device is attachable to a drive for moving the ink pad horizontally and vertically from a horizontal home position to a horizontal inking position in which the ink pad is tamped against a printing device which imprints postage indicia. The ink pump comprises a deformable chamber which is compressed to pump ink from the reservoir to the ink chamber. In one embodiment, the ink pad and the ink chamber are provided as a disposable, non-replenishable, non-refillable unit containing a limited amount of ink for limited use. In another embodiment, the ink chamber, the ink pad, the reservoir and the pump form a unit in which ink is replenished from the reservoir to the ink chamber. In that embodiment, the entire unit may be made disposable and may be moved by the drive to the inking position. In still another embodiment, the ink pad and the ink chamber form a disposable, replenishable unit, and the reservoir is replaceable. In that embodiment, only the ink pad and the ink chamber are movable by the drive to the inking position.

Abstract: An automated contact ink stamping apparatus characterized by a vertical printing stroke wherein the stamping die surface is mounted to a single piston and cylinder assembly for vertical movement therewith between a stamping position on the down stroke and returned to an ink reservoir on the upstroke. The stamping die surface is carried on a pivot block which in turn is mounted to the end of the piston in a manner which inverts the printing surface of the stamping die through 180 degrees between an upper position to mate with the ink pad of the ink reservoir and an opposing position to stamp indicia on a workpiece. A cam surface is provided to guide the path of travel of the stamp pivot block in response to its pivotal connection to a cam follower engaging the cam surface. A portion of the vertical extent of the cam surface which directs the final positioning of the stamping pivot block in its upper and lower positions includes a removably fixed insert which assures precisely locating the stamping die in its final upper and lowered position.

Abstract: High speed printing endorsing apparatus of modular construction capable of automatically printing both fixed and variable information simultaneously upon items fed to said apparatus in a continuous uninterrupted stream of items. Differential gearing and a wrap spring clutch in combination with a cam and follower concentric with the main drive shaft of the apparatus provide means for automatic item batch consecutive number advance by means of relative motion between the cam the printing apparatus. The item batch printing device is demountably removable permitting alteration of the fixed information while the vertical position of the batch printing relative to the item information field format is alterable at will. Automatic means is provided for loading and unloading the print head inking assembly against the print head so as to avoid any bleeding of the inking mechanism when not in use. Automatic means is provided for exposing the print head in the "ready for print" position and for retracting the print head to a "store" position. Simultaneously a shield is automatically placed across the opening in the document track when the print head is retracted to said "store" position. The shield is automatically removed from the opening in the document track to be occupied by the print head in the "ready for print" position.

Abstract: An arts and crafts type stamp kit including a frame having two generally elongated, diverging, horizontal leg portions for universally mounting an elevated stamp support arm generally at the juncture of the leg portions. An ink stamp is adjustably mounted by a stamp carrier on the free end of the stamp support arm for movement therewith and for longitudinal and rotational movement relative thereto. An ink pad is mounted on one of the legs, and a stamping surface is provided on the other of the legs so that ink may be transferred by the ink stamp from the ink pad to a suitable transferring surface, such as a sheet of paper, positioned on the stamping surface by movement of the support arm to first pick up a film of ink and transfer it to the sheet of paper. The stamp kit includes a rotatable pad on the end of the leg adjacent the stamping surface so that a sheet of paper may be pivotally secured thereto by a suitable adhesive. The paper may be selectively rotated so that repetitive stamping by the user can produce a circularly arranged series of images from the stamp.
