摘要: The present invention relates to a printing wire driving device in a wire dot printer which can perform accurate control with small power and has a large printing wire driving power. In the present invention, a driving member is driven by an eccentric cam. The printing wire can be positively driven with high accuracy by this driving member when a maintaining electromagnet or piezo-actuator holds the wire and driving member in alignment. Otherwise, a biasing member pushes the wire or driving member out of alignment.

摘要: A plurality of magnetic dot elements are provided, each of which comprises a cylindrical magnet and a conical impact member fixed to the cylindrical magnet. The magnetic dot elements are rotatable and can shift their positions along their axes. A magnetic field control is provided for controlling the orientation of each of the magnetic dot elements in accordance with print information so that the conical impact member of a selected magnetic dot element faces a print receiving member. A depression plate is provided for depressing the magnetic dot elements toward the print receiving member in such a manner that the conical impact member of the selected magnetic dot element comes into contact with the print receiving member, whereby a desired character is printed on the print receiving member in a dot matrix fashion.

摘要: A thermal ink jet printing apparatus has a film having a number of small apertures formed in the front thereof and retaining liquid ink in the apertures. The film is located to face a thermal head having heating elements. As the heating elements are selectively energized in response to a signal representative of a particular image pattern, the ink in the apertures evaporates to exert a pressure on the ink. As a result, the ink is ejected toward a recording medium to form an image thereon. An ink retaining layer is provided on the rear of the film and communicated to the apertures. Alternatively, an ink well may be formed in a portion of the thermal head that faces the rear of the film and communicated to the apertures.

摘要: The trajectory of an electromagnetic actuator is adjusted by pulse-width-modulating feedback control of the waveform which energizes the coil. As applied to actuators for impact printing, the objectives of the control scheme are to regulate the armature's time of flight and its velocity at impact, in spite of disturbances, thereby to provide higher-quality printing at increased speed. Each actuation is produced by energizing the coil with a series of pulses. Regulation is accomplished under microprocessor control by measuring the state variables of the system--armature position, armature velocity, and coil current--at the beginning of each pulse, comparing these measurements to ideal values, and modulating the width of the pulse as a function of the errors. In general, the appropriate functional relationship between the measured errors and the pulse-width modulation is nonlinear, and is different for each pulse in the series. Systematic means for determining these relationships are given.

摘要: My invention relates to a microballistic printer in which I provide a collector wall normally struck by projectiles rebounding from the platen of the printer with an anti-bounce surface. The surface comprises a thin and flexible sheet spaced from the wall to absorb or dissipate the kinetic energy stored in the rebounding projectiles. The sheet has a thickness of the order of four mils and is formed of a material having a ratio of yield strength to modulus of elasticity which is sufficiently high to prevent a permanent set in the area of impact by a projectile.

摘要: Disclosed is a print head for a printer which performs a printing operation with dots on a printing medium. The print head is provided with an armature and a wire holder fixed to the armature. A print wire is rigidly joined to the free end of the wire holder. The forward end portion of the print wire extends toward the printing medium through a guide slot formed in a guide member. The side surface of the forward end portion of the print wire on the side opposite to the side on which the armature is disposed slides along the wall defining the guide slot at least during the printing operation.

摘要: A centrifugal ball elevator for use in a microballistic impact printer or the like in which a hollow rotary member arranged on a generally vertical axis and having an inlet at the lower end and an outlet at the upper end is formed with an internal surface extending between the inlet and the outlet with a radius that increases from the inlet to the outlet. Balls to be elevated for recycling through the printer are supplied to the lower end of the surface through the inlet, while the member is rotated at such a speed as to impel the balls toward the outlet under the action of centrifugal force. In certain disclosed embodiments the internal surface is so formed as to entrap or filter out contaminants which have accumulated on the balls, while in another disclosed embodiment the internal surface is provided with a self-lubricating coating which lubricates the balls to reduce the abrasive effect of the balls on constricted portions of the printer through which they pass.

摘要: A barrelless gun for use with a microballistic printer to propel balls toward a printing medium in which the ball next to be fired is releasably held in a resilient breech with gas under pressure supplied to the region behind the breech and with the region in front of the breech extending to the medium being unobstructed so that no element of structure affects the flight of a ball fired from the breech. Preferably the ball in the breech is fired by moving another ball into the breech to dislodge the first ball.

摘要: A plurality of printing needles forming an array are mounted in a printing head and are periodically driven to impact a printing ribbon onto a recording medium. The printing head contains a brake for each needle so that selected needles can be prevented from striking the printing ribbon allowing the formation of a desired character matrix pattern on the recording medium. Each brake may be driven by a piezoelectric element.
