The present invention relates generally to an electrical charge storage device (ECSD) with enhanced power characteristics. More particularly, the present invention relates to enhancing the current density, voltage rating, power transfer characteristics, frequency response and charge storage density of various devices, such as capacitors, batteries, fuel cells and other electrical charge storage devices. For example, one aspect of the present invention is solid state and electrolytic capacitors where the conductor surface area is increased with smooth structures, thereby reducing the distance separating the conductors, and improving the effective dielectric characteristics by employing construction techniques on atomic, molecular, and macroscopic levels.

An absorbent article that contains a substrate applied with an activated carbon coating is provided. The activated carbon coating is formed from a mixture of a polymeric material and an activation agent. The mixture is activated by heating to a temperature of from about 100null C. to about 250null C. As a result of the present invention, it has been discovered that a substrate can be formed that is absorbent and also capable of performing other functions, such as serving as an odor control agent.

A method for producing a hydrophobic, oleophobic and stain resistant fabric including the steps of selecting a suitable fabric substrate and applying first layer to form a scrub resistant first layer; drying and curing the scrub resistant first layer; applying a fluoropolymer coating over the first layer to form a second layer; and drying and curing the second layer. A new foam coated nonwoven fibrous mat having properties particularly suited for a facer on gypsum wallboard, laminates made therefrom and the method of making the mat is disclosed. The mat preferably contains a major portion of glass fibers and a minor portion of a resinous binder. The foam coating is permeable and reduces fiber dust and abrasion experienced in the past with relatively coarse, relatively inexpensive glass fibers in the mat. Contrary to previous methods, the foam coated fibrous mat is made in-line on a wet mat forming production line by applying a wet foam binder onto a wet, fibrous web followed by drying and curing in-line.

Composite fence and decking components, for example, rails, posts and planks, are provided which generally include a weatherable outer layer, a core layer made of a thermal plastic polymeric composition and a wood component in an amount effective as a filler, and an inner layer made of a thermal plastic material. The layers are configured so as to form a generally central hollow space. The components are light weight and inexpensive to manufacture. The components can be manufactured by using a single coextrusion process to produce a cylindrical form. The cylindrical form is passed through a reshaping die to form a composite having a desired cross sectional form, for example, a composite with a substantially square or rectangular cross section.
