Abstract: The present disclosure provides a spindle structure including a base, a spindle, a sliding member, a restoring mechanism, and a restriction member. The spindle is rotatably received in the base and forms a receiving room. An end of the receiving room is a blind end communicating exterior via a gas channel. The sliding member is slidably received in the receiving room, and two ends thereof are a piston and a driving portion respectively. A gas cavity is defined between the piston and the blind end. The sliding member tends to move toward the blind end due to the restoring mechanism. The restriction member is connected to the driving portion and radially deforms when the sliding member slides so as to fix or to release the tool-holder. The sliding member slides outward when the gas cavity is injected with gas via the gas channel.

Abstract: In an improved air inlet valve assembly, a flow of air along a first or second flow path may be controlled by a position of air inlet guide surfaces of a rotatable valve relative to air inlet guide slots of a fixed valve sleeve. Air flowing along the first flow path may rotate a motor in a first direction to operate the tool in a forward mode. Air flowing along the second flow path may rotate the motor in the second direction to operate the tool in a reverse mode. In the forward mode, as air flows along the first flow path, air may be discharged along a primary discharge path, with a portion of the second flow path providing a secondary discharge path. In the reverse mode, as air flows along the second flow path, air may be discharged along the primary discharge path, with a portion of the first flow path providing the secondary discharge path.

Abstract: A micro-machine powered by an electric motor and/or a gas turbine drive and capable of rotation speeds to 1,500,000 rpm is disclosed. The micro-machine may include a rotating spindle which is constructed, balanced and arranged to provide a tool holder function and may incorporate a portion of the drive system. The other portion of the drive system is incorporated in a machine housing. The housing locates and supports at least one foil thrust bearing and at least one foil journal bearing to support the spindle. The housing and the bearings may be split into at least two parts and reassembled and the housing incorporates a gas reservoir and gas distribution channels for forced gas cooling of the bearings. In one embodiment of a foil journal bearing, a plurality of overlapping top foil segments supported by individual bump foil segments consisting of generally uniformly-spaced ridges and flats are secured within a housing. The bearing may be split and the bump foil stiffness may be adjusted by modifying the geometry, number and/or arrangement of the bump foils. In one embodiment of a foil thrust bearing a plurality of top foil segments are supported by coextensive individual bump foil segments including ridges and flats and secured on a thrust plate. The bearing may be split. The bump foil may be divided into a series of tabs separated by slits, each of the tabs having a number of ridges separated by flats. The ridges and flats on adjacent tabs may be arranged to reduce bearing heating. Provision may be made for cooling of the bearing by forced radial gas inflow.

Abstract: A work support comprises a plunger, a transmission member, a first chamber, a second chamber, a third chamber, a clamping mechanism, a plug, and a body. The plunger may be slidably retained within the clamping mechanism, which in turn is firmly held within the transmission member.
