    摘要: A method for cold-forging a thin-walled portion by which a thin-walled portion having a set thickness is formed directly from a metal base plate having a sufficiently large thickness and an explosion-proof valve are provided. Blade side surfaces of upper and lower dies for shearing the metal base plate are set in an overlapping manner with a predetermined clearance δ therebetween. Sheared surfaces are formed with the blade side surfaces of the upper and lower dies in the metal base plate along a processing direction while leaving the set thickness t2 therebetween and the metal base plate is compressed by the overlapped portions until work-hardened to form the thin-walled portion with the horizontal width δ and the set thickness t2 between the sheared surfaces. The formation of the sheared surfaces eliminates a need to press portions of the metal base plate positioned at both the sides of the thin-walled portion into both the sides during the processing of the thin-walled portion and the thin-walled portion can thus be formed at a high compression processing rate with a smaller processing load.

    摘要: A method and mechanism for forming a hole through a forged workpiece. During the forging operation an indentation is formed in the upper surface of the workpiece. While the workpiece remains in the forging press, a trepanning tool is placed in the indentation and the top die of the press is used to force the tool almost through the workpiece leaving a thin wall at the bottom of the hole. The workpiece either may be removed from the press while the wall is knocked out to complete the hole, or preferably the workpiece remains in the press and the top die is used to knock out the wall. If the workpiece remains in the press, preferably it is supported on a locating ring which aligns the workpiece and trepanning tool with the top die. Also disclosed is an improved trepanning tool which has external and internal sloping faces extending around its circumference at its lower end.

    摘要: The disclosure relates to apparatus for center punching a hot metal billet preparatory to a piercing operation, in the production of seamless tubing. The apparatus provides a simple, reliable, mechanical arrangement effective to automatically compensate for normal variations in the diameter of successive hot metal billets, such that the center punching operation is carried out with greater accuracy than has heretofore been attained in regular production operations. The apparatus includes means for mechanically clamping a hot metal billet preparatory to center punching, and means for axially advancing a center punching tool into the end of the clamped billet. The center punching tool itself is mounted for limited transverse movement in relation to its advancing means, and is mechanically coupled to the clamping means by a compensating mechanism. Minor transverse adjustment of the position of the center punching tool in relation to the nominal axis of the apparatus, in order to obtain greater accuracy of alignment with the actual center line of a billet, is achieved by moving the center punching tool as a function of movement of the clamping mechanism. The clamping mechanism serves inherently to sense the actual diameter of the billet which is being clamped.
