Abstract:
A hand-held apparatus is for hole-making in an elongated body. The apparatus has a housing including a rotatable cutting tool arranged to be axially movable from a non-cutting position into a cutting position. The first end portion of the housing comprises a clamping device arranged to be adjusted from a first, inactive position into a second, active position, wherein the clamping device, in the active position, is arranged to hold the apparatus fixed to the elongated body. The apparatus further has a device for connecting to a driving means, for example a hand-held drill.
Abstract:
A press punching machine and respective method of punching apertures in elongated non-ferric enclosed polygonally profiled workpieces are described. The press punching machine includes a base plate; a mounting framework; a driving mechanism; a male die; a pedestal; a polygonal female die matrix including: a polygonal cross-section; at least one counter-opening; at least one driven magnet; at least one indicatory magnet; at least one driving magnet configured to interact with the at least one driven magnet and a magnetic element configured to interact with the indicatory magnet embedded into the polygonal female punch die matrix.
Abstract:
A die apparatus for forming a press-formed component includes a piercing die, a piercing punch, and a support. The piercing die includes a tubular first forming portion for forming a boss portion and a second forming portion having a cutting edge and an inwardly extending portion. The second forming portion is adapted to perform pressing of a preform while cutting a portion thereof. A cutting edge which cooperates with the cutting edge of the second forming portion is formed at a distal end of the piercing punch. When forming a press-formed component, a projection end portion of a preform formed from a blank by drawing is cut and removed by the two cutting edges, and a preform boss portion is then pressed and swaged by the inwardly extending portion.
Abstract:
A method for producing an energy-absorbing profile for a motor vehicle includes: providing an extruded hollow profile, the extruded hollow profile having outer walls and at least one inner wall which connects two of the outer walls; inserting a cutting tool into the hollow profile; actuating the cutting tool and cutting an inner wall section out of the inner wall; and removing the cut out wall section and the cutting tool from the hollow profile.
Abstract:
Disclosed are devices and methods useful for installing a liner and/or a gasket at the base of a tank, e.g., between the horizontal lips of a tank base chime and a tank wall panel. Devices including hollow cylindrical cutters are used to puncture the liner and/or gasket material. In one device, a depressable pedal causes the hollow cylindrical cutters to move upwardly to puncture the liner and/or gasket material. In an alternative device, at least one pneumatic cylinder causes the hollow cylindrical cutters to move downwardly to puncture the liner and/or gasket material. Another device installs bolts through the horizontal lips of the tank base chime and tank wall panel and the punctured liner and/or gasket material there between.
Abstract:
An automatic processing machine for header includes a frame (1), a pipe clamp (21), a punch assembly (22) and a translation mechanism (23) which can drive the pipe clamp (21) and the punch assembly (22) to slide. The pipe clamp (21), the punch assembly (22), and the translation mechanism (23) are all positioned on the working table (101) of the frame (1). The translation mechanism (23) includes a first slide seat (231) sliding along X axis. One of the pipe clamp (21) and the punch assembly (22) is positioned on the first slide seat (231) and the other is positioned on the frame (1). A separator transferring device (3) is also positioned on the working table (101) for transferring the separator into the pipe. The separator transferring device (3) and the pipe clamp (21) are separately positioned on either side of the punch assembly (22). The automatic processing machine for header combines a hole punching device with a separator transferring device, thereby improving the processing efficiency.
Abstract:
A method of forming a chamfered through hole having a chamfered portion at each end thereof by: forming a prepared hole in a plate-like portion; forming a first chamfered portion by driving a first punch; forming a second chamfered portion by driving a second punch, which has a second tapered surface and a generally columnar central pressing portion protruding from the center of the second tapered surface and having an annular corner at a tip thereof, and thereby forming the second chamfered portion and a central recess recessed axially inward; and punching out an unnecessary portion protruding radially inward of the prepared hole by using a finishing punch having an outer diameter equal to or smaller than that of the corner of the central pressing portion. The punching out the unnecessary portion is performed by punching from the first chamfered portion toward the second chamfered portion using the finishing punch.
Abstract:
The present invention was made with the object of eliminating the short pipe member when attaching a bolting nut to a hydroformed part, preventing an increase in the difficulty of hydroforming for attaching the nut, extending the nut length so as to enable sufficient strength at the time of bolting, and enabling application even to thin wall hydroformed parts and comprises inserting a metal pipe into a split mold having a pierce punch able to be moved perpendicular to an axis of the inserted metal pipe or in a slanted direction, having a front part narrower than a center part, and having around the front part a nut having an in side diameter larger than an outside diameter of the front part and smaller than an outside diameter of the center part; hydroforming it; then making the pierce punch advance to pierce part of the hydroformed part and pushing the nut by a center part arranged behind the nut and embedding the nut in the metal pipe.
Abstract:
A novel multipart punch and system allows apertures to be formed in hydroformed members with the slug which would otherwise result being divided into two or more smaller slugs. These smaller slugs can be folded back into the hydroformed member and held captive therein or removed if desired. The multipart punch and system provides a flush surface in the hydroforming mold when the punch is in its initial position to allow easy loading and unloading of the mold and to allow additional blank to be fed into the mold during the hydroforming operation, if desired. Also, the hydraulic ram used with the multipart punch need develop less force than an equivalent prior art stepped punch.
Abstract:
A tube punching system for punching at least one hole into a tube, said system comprising: a punch, an external mold and a counter die. The mold and punch are positioned relative to each other such that the mold exerts a counterforce onto the tube when the hole is punched; and wherein the mold subsequently forms a collar as a result of the force applied by punch against the tube.
