Abstract: An apparatus and method for modifying an aspect of an exterior polymer material or polymer type material of a linear substrate with a fluid. The apparatus include a variable exposure gap within which the linear substrate is exposed to the fluid. The width of the exposure gap is varied with the speed of the linear substrate traversing the exposure gap to maintain a constant exposure time of the linear substrate with the modifying fluid.

Abstract: A swager machine and die includes a base with a product holder assembly mounted thereon for linear reciprocating movement between a start and a finished position along an axis of movement. A disc is rotatably mounted on the base and has a swaging die mounted thereon. The swaging die defines a die cavity having an open and a closed position. The die cavity has a longitudinal axis coaxial with an axis of rotation of the disc and coaxial with the axis of movement of the product holder assembly. A hub assembly is rotatably mounted on the disc for relative rotation between the hub assembly and the disc. The hub assembly includes actuating apparatus positioned to engage a portion of the swaging die and move the swaging die from the open to the closed position during relative rotation of the hub assembly and the disc.

Abstract: Die arrangement for use with conventional and hydrostatic extrusion presses consisting of a first die for providing a first extruded section of a billet and a second die cooperating with the first die to further extrude said first extruded section to final shape. Successive dies beyond the second die are contemplated to provide successive step-wise extrusion for greater reductions, especially of large billets. The method of the invention comprises step-wise incremental sequential extrusion of the billet and extruded portions of the billet until the final shape is achieved.

Abstract: Billet material is extruded through a die having a plurality of die apertures thereby to produce simultaneously a plurality of extruded products such as wire. The die has a conical mouth. The apertures are radially equispaced around a circle intermediate the entrance end of the die and the apex of the cone defining the mouth, the circle lying in a plane perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the die so that all die apertures are spaced the same distance from the entrance end of the die and, consequently, all the said die apertures are spaced the same distance from the apex of the cone. Abstract: A method for preparing a multilayer metal composite pipe includes steps of: internally and externally grinding blank pipes; cleaning oil stains; assembling a multilayer metal pipe; drawing to reduce a diameter; performing high-speed friction welding at the pipe ends; performing heat treatment; performing four-roller cross-rolling; straightening; performing two-roller cold-rolling; performing cold-drawing to reduce the diameter; performing cold-expansion to reduce the diameter; performing precise cold-rolling; degreasing; brightening; performing surface grinding; cleaning dust; detecting multilayer metal interface bonding; detecting flaws; testing metal structure performance; and sizing and packaging. By cycling the cold-drawing, the cold-expansion, and the precision cold-rolling, key indicators such as product dimensional accuracy, surface quality, material properties, and crystal grain size can be collaboratively controlled, so as to achieve higher accuracy, better performance, and more outstanding extreme specifications. The present invention solves the problem of inconsistent extension due to differences in metal properties.
