The compressed air is delivered to the hand piece by a line that meters out and discharges the post-mixed water slurry of abrasive or non-abrasive components.

摘要: The present invention provides a gas dental abrasive system using pressurized helium gas. The system includes an apparatus for abrading teeth using an abradant having a pressurized helium gas source and a control for regulating pressurized helium gas to form a carrier gas containing helium gas for carrying the abradant to teeth. The system also includes a dual gas apparatus with a pressurized helium gas source; a source of pressurized non-helium gas; and a control capable of selectively mixing the pressurized helium and the pressurized non-helium gas to form a carrier gas for carrying the abradant to teeth, wherein the carrier gas can contain from 0-100% helium gas. The system further includes a method of abrading teeth with the steps of providing an abradant; and delivering the abradant to teeth with pressurized helium carrier gas.

摘要: At an initial office visit, the dentist makes an impression of the portion of the mouth in which the tooth is located, with upper and lower occlusal surfaces at or below the gum line. After preparation of a crown, the dentist presses the surface contour tool against the biting surface of the tooth to determine the depth settings for at least one burr in a surface tool that will remove the upper surface of the tooth and create a working surface for the material removal device. The dentist inserts at least one burr with the proper length in this tool so that when the tool is lowered onto the tooth, a flat surface will be created. The flat surface tool and the center hole drilling burr are operated with a device that locks onto the tooth and ensures that the top surface of the tooth will be perpendicular to the central longitudinal axis of the tooth. The dentist inserts the guide pin of the material removal device in the center hole or onto a disk post and begins to remove material from the side of the tooth.

摘要: The invention relates to a coated tool bit for a dental drilling/cutting system. The tool bit is used to prepare an osteotomy in the jawbone of a patient. The tool bit is coated with a hard carbon coating/film. The coating can comprise diamond-like carbon (DLC), amorphous diamond, crystalline diamond, or a combination thereof. The tool bit includes drilling bits, threadformers, counterbores, and cutting tips of osteotomes. Some of the advantages of the coated tool bit are reduced friction, enhanced cutting efficiency, improved heat dissipation, increased resistance to wear and corrosion, and reduced adhesion to bone, tissue and other debris.

摘要: A dental drill system for use in preparing an osteotomy of a predetermined depth and diameter sized to receive a dental implant therein is disclosed. The drill system comprises at least one elongate depth drill of a first diameter adapted to drill the osteotomy opening to the predetermined depth, and at least one elongate width increasing drill of a second greater diameter adapted to size the diameter of the osteotomy opening to the predetermined diameter. The invention also teaches a method of using the dental drill system to form the osteotomy opening, the method comprising the steps of using a starter drill to define at least a portion of the osteotomy opening, using at least one elongate depth drill of a first diameter to drill the osteotomy opening to the predetermined depth, and using at least one elongate width increasing drill of a second greater diameter greater than the first diameter to increase the diameter of the osteotomy opening to the predetermined diameter.

摘要: The invention relates to an implant system containing at least one drill (5, 15) and one implant (32), particularly a dental implant, which can be screwed into a bore hole made in a bone (2) by means of a drill (6, 16). Preferably, the implant (32) comprises a self-cutting screw (34) with a thread core. The aim of the invention is to further develop an implant system which guarantees high primary stability for a wide variety of bone qualities and requires little technical complexity. According to the invention, the implant (32) and the drill (5, 15) are co-ordinated in such a manner according to bone quality that a compressed zone (28, 30) arises when the implant is screwed into the implant (32) in the bone (2). The size of said compressed zone is greater for low bone quality than for high bone quality.

摘要: A pneumatic dental care device for private use which by means of a combination of air, liquid and powder at high pressure cleans the user's teeth and removes plaque and discoloration. The device consists of a base unit (100) and a hand unit (300) which are connected via a flexible, sheathed tube and wire bundle (200). The base unit contains a microcompressor (120), a liquid container (130) and a powder container (140). Liquid and/or powder are discharged at high pressure through an exchangeable nozzle unit (400) on the hand unit. The nozzle unit consists of one or more flexible (bendable) jet stems (401). The microprocessor, the powder container and the liquid container can be replaced by an exchangeable compressed air tank and/or pressurised liquid and/or powder containers in different configurations. The components of the device can also be integrated into a hand-held unit.

摘要: A dental/medical handpiece having a flexible portion is disclosed. In one embodiment, the handpiece is an abrasion handpiece, for use with a flow of gas having abrasive material entrained therewithin, and comprises a housing including a handle, a nozzle-receiving portion and a flexible neck connecting the handle to the nozzle-receiving portion. A nozzle rigidly attached to the nozzle-receiving portion of the housing is also provided, as is a gas tube. The gas tube has a first end adapted to receive said flow, and extends, from said first end, through the handle, the neck portion and the nozzle-receiving portion, to the nozzle, to direct said flow to issue through the nozzle, outwardly from the housing. In another embodiment, the handpiece is a rotary tool, for use with a rotary bit, such as a dental drill. In a further embodiment, the handpiece is a laser handpiece, for use with a laser generator.
